How to carry (backpacking) a rifle into basecamp?

The rule is only for the island. And now that I think about it, I didn't see that time anywhere in the rulebook this year... Let me read it again.

When I shoot a bear in AK I have to bring the skull in so they can pull a tooth and age it. Certainly not the whole bear.

Again, the whole deer thing is only for the island and I don't even know if it's a written rule. In normal Michigan hunting you don't have to do anything with your legally harvested deer, however you can bring in the skull/head and get it aged and they will give you a successful hunter patch.
