For some reason I don't remember the correct way to measure the height of a scope. Or more precisely, where to take the measurements from. For example, when you have to enter that number into a ballistic software program that asks for "Scope height"

I think it is correctly measured from the center of the bore line to the center of the scope tube.

Anyone know for sure?

TIA,
Rob

Greetings,
The term I believe you are looking for is Bore Height. The measurement is take from the center of the barrel's bore to the center of the scope's bore, i.e. the center of the crosshair, while the scope is mounted on the rifle with the base and rings you intend to use. The only caveat to this is when you are using a sloped base, for which I would suggest that there is so little variation in measuremet that your initial figure will still stand as correct.

Rough, but close: ON many rifles, the flat of the right side of the receiver is pretty close to the CL of the bore. Just measure up to the top of the scope tube, and subtract half its diameter.

Thanks for the help. I thought it was center of bore to center of scope tube. Just wanted to make sure.
