Im gonna sell me Mossberg 835 and would like some advice on how to properly sell it. I would like to be as comprehensive as possible. Ill notorize it and get it signed by the mayor if i have to. I've just heard to many stories to take this one lightly.

Thanks-

Define " how to properly sell it".

No paperwork is required in Texas to sell a shotgun to a private party. For some people, the only paper involved is the cash that changes hands. Others make up a bill of sale that both parties sign - some include drivers license numbers. Some prefer to sell to a dealer for less money and not deal with a face to face sale. It all depends on your comfort level.

i give you the cash, you give me the handgun/rifle.

i've had one individual get a notary at bank of america. took longer than usual, but whatever made him feel more confortable.

i was gonna go the paper way. i guess you could say im a little spooked. i had a bud that had a handgun traced back to him. after it was invloved in a murder. So what would i have to put on the bill of sale? Just each others info and some of the guns numbers?

In Texas swap the money and gun and go about your business.
Be greatful that in Texas we are still citizens and not subjects of the state.

You do not have to make a bill of sale but if you want to just put whatever you want on it.

So what happened to your friend after the gun was traced back to him?
I'll tell you, nothing.
I also had a gun I owned traced back to me after a murder.
I talked to the detectives just long enough to say I sold the gun.
