How well do you know your guns?

Had no idea about which manufacturer the NY Police could not use, but otherwise got all the rest correct. Had good guesses on some of the questions though.

I missed one.
The question about which country had the most guns.
I assumed they meant illegal as well as illegal. :)

I didn't know the Secret Service carried Sigs.
They converted over to the SIG 228 from their S&W M-10 in the early 90s (remember the 110gr +P+ Treasury loads) and changed over to the current 229 chambered in 357SIG in the late 90s

Officers were given a choice of 9mm pistols between the Glock 19 (NY-2), Sig P226 (DAO; not DAK), and the S&W 5946

92%. I can live with that. I messed up on the stupid NYC question. They're giving those guys guns still? I thought Bloomberg did away with that!

Also, I was under the impression that secret service agents were carrying the FN Five-seven.

Wow! The 5946... today? That gun weighs as much as an aircraft carrier!
It does seem to, after a whole shift on a duty belt. Might be why S&W stopped producing them.

The last Gen 3 S&W duty gun that I'm aware of, still in production, is the 4006 TSW...for the CHP

They haven't gotten the trigger heavy enough on the M&P9 to suit NYPD

You actually felt insulted?

Nah. I just don't like being quizzed by anyone who doesn't know the material themselves. Insulted was a bit strong of a word.

> knowledge

I can strip and reassemble my AK-47 and 1911 in total darkness. Though I hate the 1911's slide stop even more then...

The NYC question is one I got right. Not only that the 9mm loads for NYPD guns are specialy tailored low power loads that require special weaker slide springs to work properly.

Modified double action only (NYPD does not allow single action capable guns) NYPD guns will not work well with higher pressure 9mm rounds that are the current standard on typical modern 9mm guns made today.

In fact the first run of Sigs used by the NYPD suffered from a rash of firing pins breaking due to it's modification to fire in double action only mode, double action only was not what it was designed for. They somehow fixed the problem as far as I know.

The NYPD is also restricted to using 10 round mags only.

Police Officers are exempt from the magazine restrictions under the NY SAFE act. Something that was slid in after it was introduced.

It's not the law its NYPD (New York City) department policy for police officers

Oh well I guess they changed it's now 15 round magazines.

Why is this info so hard to come by on google these days. They are sure controlling the info on the web more and more these days except for commercial advertisments (they run rampant wild and out of hand.)

It wasn't a gun knowledge test. It was a gun trivia test. I guessed at several of the questions about what guns were used by who. Who cares? I certainly knew Patton's famous quote about pearl handles. I know what the military issues for the most part. I KNEW most of the questions but didn't know the trivia. That stuff just doesn't register for me. I wouldn't have known that deal about Patton but it's been repeated so often it's common knowledge. But questions like what caliber the M1 shot and what caliber the AK shoots were pretty simple. I didn't know the question about the sniper kill either but I do know a caliber isn't a rifle. I thought I remembered that answer so I guessed what I thought it was and got it right. 77 percent right I think. I couldn't care less about the NYPD or the Secret Service. I should have gone with my first guess on them but I went with the trick answers (IMO they were trick answers like giving people the option to choose S&W over Sig for a US agency).

Normally I would agree but this little trivia got me into doing some google searches and I was shocked to find how hard it was to obtain specifics on what kind of sidearms and other equipment police are carrying which I find disturbing.

In this day and age they sure can get any info on us down to what we like to shop for to the brand of toilet paper we use (just a figure of speech you know what I mean) and they sure REALLY WANT TO KNOW WHAT KIND AND HOW MANY GUNS WE OWN we should not be kept ignorant as to what armament they have it sets a dangerous precedent.

The whole framework of the constitution is built on checks and balances to make sure no government agency becomes too powerful. There are prices we pay for that. A free country will never have the total order and control over crime (or what is percieved as crime whether noble or not) that a dictatorship has.

Okay rant over.

Oh whether ridiculous or not I think we should have more of these trivias. They are fun.

The founding fathers knew full well that guns for everyone would mean a higher crime rate. It's just obvious. They had been exposed to anti-gun laws already from the king.

I answered the questions all correctly until I tired of the site and No-Script in full force slowing down all the adware trying to climb in my PC. Some of the "news" sites are the worst for that junk.

Too many badly written questions.

James Bond's gun of choice was a Beretta 25. The PPK 32 was forced on him, by M. And even then he sneaked the Beretta off M's desk, only to get stopped at the office door. "Leave the Beretta, Oh Oh Seven."

The accompanying picture showed Bond holding a Walther PPK. I took that as a hint.

Was a Beretta 25 one of the choices?

More like "how well do you know other people's guns." I don't care what government agencies are using. I know MY guns pretty well. I can tell you where they all are, whether or not they are loaded, what modifications they have had, and where their spare ammo is located. That is the important thing for me to know about my guns.
