Well off the beaten path a couple blocks off the old town square sits a pawn shop full of all sorts of fun stuff. Buried down in the counter was this circa 1974'ish 66 no dash. Complete with SS sights. It was shot some, grips were pretty dry and the gun was dirty. However, dirty is of no concern to me and the pictures below show what 30 minutes of watching tv and some cleaning will do. Chap was not too in the know on the Smiths, some way high and this one was too cheap for me to resist $410 OTD, no box or papers, just a really solid gun.

How did I do?

Well, I'm gonna say you scammed like a Mo-Fo.......MO-FO !!!!!:D
I recently got a very nice 1976 Model 66-no-dash 4" at a gunshow for $480 OTD, and I was tickled pink !!!
I'm gonna say you did great !!!

I would have to say you did just fine. It's a great feeling coming across a treasure where you least expect it.

Great find and price!! I've only seen one with the stainless sights in the last 30 years.

Well, I bought my first Smith in December of last year, one off the web last month and knew enough that I could not pass this one up - could not imagine what it would cost me if I had to wait 30 yrs to get another chance at one.

Very nice find. Great deal. I would have been out back selling blood so I could buy it.

Um... I think I hate you. I've been looking for a 4"-6" medium frame S&W in .357.

Really, really nice piece. Congrats. Every one of those K-frame .357 revolvers I've seen recently has been 100-300 dollars more than that.

The pawn shop no doubt stole the gun from the previous owner and you stole it from them. Fair's fair!!

Well 6gunner455 then you will like the family shot here, all snagged in last 8 weeks.

66-1 4" was LNIB, presentation case, commemerative with knife etc 200 rounds fired by original owner.

66-1 6" used $475

Man!
you REALLY got burned!
I can't imagine the horrible feelings of gullability and failure you must be experiencing right now!
Due to my natural sense of fairness and my deep humanitarian nature, I am willing to give you back what you paid for it and also never mention to anyone what a foolish mistake you have made!
Please! For your own good! Do Not Delay! Act on this generous offer now while your self esteem and reputation are still salvagable.
I am ALWAYS willing to lend a hand to the less fortunate victims of unscrupulous, profit driven greed!

What a deal! I've been looking for a 66 no dash for a long time. I've got a 66-2 with 6 inch barrel. Fine weapon, but I lust for a 66 no-dash with 4 inch barrel. Congratulations!!!!!

Thanks guys - yep, just no way to walk away from this one, had to bring her home.

I just keep bringing it out - looking - some dry fire work with snap caps - can't wait to warm her up a little.

That is a rare good deal from a pawn shop these days.Good to know there are some deals are still out there.

Congrats on your purchase and thats a great looking model 66. To me the K frame magnum is the finest handing 357 magnum S&W ever made. I have three of them and they are my favorites. I have a later made one than yours but the triggers on all of my K frames are the best. Again, congrats and here is my 66-4 4 inch with Uncle Mikes rubber grips.

Wow, great aquisition there. I don't ever recall seeing a Model 66-no dash, especially with those stainless sights. Great deal all the way around. Enjoy.
