hr 1022 bull sh**

Ummmm I hate to mention this but that is almost 2 years old and has been discussed on here numerous times. Is there something new here?

That's old news and it didn't even make it out of committee so I wouldn't get too wadded up over it.

The thing is about anti-gun laws at this time is that while we will certainly see a new push for some of this nonsense, the Dems know full well that this very issue has cost them some really important elections in the past.

I'm not too worried about what they'll do in the next two years because they (Dems) will hope to keep their power beyond 2010 and Obama beyond 2012.
I'm much more concerned with what we can look for after 2012 if Obama is still in office. During his lame duck term is when the 2nd Amendment will be abolished, and it will be helped by Obama's picks of the SCOTUS as the current ones retire.

Don't blame me, I voted for "Anyone but Obama".

The bill died when Congress adjourned. I have no doubt that something like it will be introduced with the new Congress, but HR 1022 ceased to exist.

i'm going to re introduce it as the ruger 1022 bill

Is that supposed to be funny? Why would you want to re-introduce a bill that would have surpassed the '94 ban bill in terms of types of firearms it prohibited?

No, I'd rather you -not- reintroduce it as the "ruger 1022 bill", if it's all the same to you. In fact, I'd be happy if no new gun ban bills were introduced ever.

Obama's picks of the SCOTUS as the current ones retire.
Keep in mind that the likely retirees are the Justices who held on during Bush's tenure because they didn't agree with his ideology.

In other words: any vacancies Obama is likely to fill will be status quo, and are not likely to change the court significantly.
