I acted real dumb at gun show today

For something at a gun show to qualify as 'real dumb', something has to have one more hole in it than it did when it came in.

Sounds like you both came to a gentlemanly agreement on allowing you to gracefully pull out of the deal. If more people acted that way, the world would turn much more smoothly, IMHO.

Is it just me, or when reading the OP's story, was anyone else reminded of the scene in Lethal Weapon when Riggs was counting out money to buy the coke? :D

I don't take deposits in my store. Mainly, because of the reasons many
have posted here. If someone comes in, puts, say $20 on a gun, then that
is his gun. A cash buyer comes in after the deposit guy, asks about said
gun, told it is sold. Deposit guy renegs...blown sale for my store.

I take checks, cash and most plastic, even Amex. If you are not interested in using any of those, oh well. Someone else will be. It's not personal, I am running a business to make a profit by selling items at a fair price in a business like way. The few times I have bent the rules, it invariably has bitten me in the butt.

You know it has been years since we travled the gunshow circuit, the highest admission back then was abt $5.00 and that was at the great western(LA Co. fairgrounds) and the Huston Collectors show. and we didn"t get any of the entrance fee, we paid $75.00 per table, We generaly had 2 setups of 5 tables each. We sure didn't get rich, but we made a living.
