[Just One Shot]

Took a muscle relaxer last night and woke up groggy. Got ready for work, ate breakfast, grabbed my extra mags and hooked the case on my belt, locked the safe and drove to work.

When I got out of the car I just didn't feel right then realized that I left my gun in the safe. I hope I don't run into a horde of zombies on my way home!

Better than how I almost brought my Glock to local courthouse last week. Was getting ready to cross the street when all of a sudden I remembered I had tucked my Glock 23 into my labtop bag. Nearly had a heartattack and case of uncontrollable bowls.

I know the feeling! Three or four times this past five years I've done the same thing. Get to work and realize I don't have my gun with me. I hate getting in a rush....I always forget something!

Almost as bad. I clear and reload my carry weapon every morning using a signle round in a mag. Then load a full mag. I though I did it right until I got to the range that nigh and found I only had one round. OPPPPS

I am not going to go into details ( fifth amendment you know ) but twice in my life I have unintentionally carried into someplace I shouldn't have, once even went through a metal detector without being detected! :banghead:

I no longer condemn all people that unintentionally carry into airports.

With the really small guns its easy to forget you have it because of how little it weighs.

Thats one reason I don't want a pocket pistol. I WILL forget its there and take it in to some place I'll get in to a lot of trouble for. I already forget my sr9c is there half the time. Good belt and holster will do wonders...

I've yet to leave my gun at home, but I'm sure I will some day.

I forgot my gun in my truck with a co-worker when I went into an a&w a few weeks ago. I felt weird and naked the moment I sat down and realized it wasn't with me. That is the first time I've been more than 10ft away from it in over 3 years. Literally...

Better than leaving it on the roof of your car, in a restroom, etc. Just putting things in perspective.

I keep my EDC pistol and its Crossbreed holster right next to each other on a shelf when I'm not wearing it (which is rare), and I've put the holster on but not put the gun in the holster a few times. Makes me feel like a goober…

The OP doesn't sound like what I am about to say, but it motivated me to point out something.

As an anesthesiologist, I give a lot of strong sedation and anesthesia drugs every day. I have heard, more times than I can remember, from people who go out the next day and buy stuff (Mercedes convertible or 10 bags of stuff from the Mall) and not remember a thing about it. Able to function enough to do the purchasing, but not have any memory or judgment while doing so.

Anyway, can I put in a plug for not carrying a weapon for a day or so after having sedation or anesthesia for a medical procedure. Plenty of evidence in anesthesia literature for prolonged mental dysfunction after our drugs.

I actually give this warning to all the out-patients I anesthetize.

I have others, but my main carry is a NAA 22 Magnum and it is in my eye glass case in the door pocket in my truck. It is can not be seen at all. I have also used my utility knife holder and wore it on my belt with out it being seen, but I accidentally carried into a prohibited place last year and I was glad it was so small and not noticed. I keep a SR9c in the glove box but hopefully never have to use it other that at the range.

I too have become so accustomed to carrying that I almost walked right past the infamous Texas 30.06 sign at a credit union recently.
I literally stopped in my tracks just as my hand grabbed the door handle.
I also yesterday had so many things to do after work that I went into a drug store near my already sketchy neighborhood without my pistol,which is extremely rare for me.
Both of these issues have given me a reality check.

It can happen... I had a friend once, she was a waitress at a diner we used to gather at for breakfast... She took a part-time position at an airport food service place, got popped going through a check point with a pistol in her purse...she just had forgot about it.. bad deal...

I know how you feel

when you leave your gun behind. I generally caryy a 1911 and two spare mags. A couple of times now I have remember the gun and the mag pouch but left the spare mags on the kitchen table. Fortunately, I generally have a bag full of "stuff" with me, including lots of loaded mags and a spare 1911 or two. I also know what is like to remember that you are wearing a gun or two, as soon as the door to the Post office closes behind me.

Went to my stepson's high school graduation last night, told the wife I was sure glad it was the last kid, I really hate leaving my pistol at home!

I once started to report a gun stolen that I thought had been taken out of a car. It was in the safe. Cop just laughed at me, drooled over the other stuff in the safe, and left.
