Hey y'all,
I just ran across and decided to try a Swampfox Freedom 30mm scope mount. The specs looked good. 7075 T6, 5.6 ounces in weight and looked pretty cool.
Anyway, it turns out that there is some sort of friction tape inside the rings. I haven't seen this in 20 years, from back when machining tolerances weren't what they are today.
Do you guys think that I should read anything into this? Would you consider this an indication of quality, or lack thereof? My knee jerk reaction is to believe that they are using the tape to make up for something.
