I just picked up a like new Savage 110E

I hope I did good after reading the forums quite a bit. I just scored a pawnshop buy on a like new condition 110E in .30-06' w/3x9x32 Western Field scope installed. I know the scope is old so it's most likely going to be relegated to rimfire use. This rifle also has a set of Williams iron sights installed on the barrel which I thought seemed odd, I don't recall ever seeing a 30-06' with iron sights. I'm sorta new to bolt guns so I'm learning having been a handgun guy for many years.

Serial is E5233** if that helps any. Can anyone tell me more about this rifle? Are the iron sights original?
 
No help either here on on the savage shooters forum? Hmmm, is this thing that old?
 
Can't answer for here, but you'll find I answered your iron sight question at Savage Shooters. In addition, if you look around at Savage Shooters, you'll find the procedure is to PM your serial number to the appropriate member, who will get back to you as soon as they have time.
 
Thanks, I guess I have to pay over at the SS forum for that privilidge though.
