I have a Springfield Loaded 1911 with Novak night sights and Crimson Trace laser grips and I'd like to find a good IWB carry holster for it. I'm 6'1, 210 lbs, and usually carry somewhere between 4:30 and 6 o'clock.

I also have a Sig P220 that I used to carry in a Comp-Tac holster but I no longer due because the plastic rubbing against my skin was very uncomfortable and I didn't want to always have to wear an undershirt. My other issue is that it was very uncomfortable to drive while wearing it. Is there any way to prevent these issues when shopping for a 1911 holster?

I don't have a lot of money to spend but I am going to make the investment so I only have to make one purchase.

Milt Sparks

Kramer Leather

Just a couple. There are tons of holsters for the 1911

Gary Brommeland, his MAXCON V is as secure and comfy as they get...Lou Alessi's PCH, the same. I have those two and very happy with both. Couple of other custom makers are Matt DelFatti and Josh Bulman, all four of these guys have many, many happy customers...you will have a lengthy wait time but it will be worth it....There are a few others out there but these are the four who consistently make their customers very happy that I am familiar with...I have yet to order from Josh or Matt, but plan to do so down the road....One more thing, get a belt from one of these guys as well, the holster is no better than the belt...... good luck....

Fist ultrathin kydex, under $35 for an IWB. I have 2, guns are snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug.

Nate at www.UBGholsters.com makes an IWB that works very well with large frame pistols. I carry a CZ-85 in one for long periods of time without discomfort.

I like an aggressive cant - 20°, I think it helps compensate for the long slide, and keeps the grip from printing.

Something to consider - typically IWB's don't have a reinforced mouth so as to be thinner and more comfortable for long term carry. If you intend to do a lot of range work or competition from the holster, you might want to look at one that is designed to stay open.

Another vote for the Milt Sparks Versa-Max II. Mate it with one of their double thick gunbelts and you won't even notice the weight of your pistol.

Ditto.

Alessi Talon Plus from rfholsters.com (Ray Done). Great daily carry for my 5" 1911 (going on 3 years; in the car, at the desk and on the street; still looks and works as new), good price from rf and dealing with Ray: a pleasure always.

Keep your old holster

Just attach some self-adhesive felt to the back of the kydex holster you have. Simply cut it to size, should cost no more than a dollar. That's really inexpensive & you keep a very good holster. Of course this may force you to go into a fabric/sewing store.:D
