I need help deciding..

Alright I've been wanting to pick up a pocket pistol to accompany my Glock 23, or be carried when the clothing doesn't permit the 23.

I have narrowed it down to either the Ruger LCP or Taurus TCP.

LCP can be had for $299

TCP can be had for $199

I guess I need to know if the LCP is worh $100 more.

Cant answer if it is worth more. I just picked up a used LCP for a real good price. Not to bad to shoot. Does what it is supposed to do but I nore the wife could hit crap with it. Put some paint on those little sites and we both can keep a good 3" circle at 25 feet now so I would have to say I am happy with it. I bought it more so for the price then anything but will keep it for it's purpose. (pocket / small purse gun). That hammer takes a bit to get used to, but on a non-safty gun I wouldn't personally want it any other way.

Shop around I have seen the LCP for $279 pretty frequently. Can't say if it is worth the extra but to me it is just the reputation of Ruger vs Taurus and the overall feel of them.

Also if you don't let the trigger fully reset on the TCP and try to pull it again, the hammer will drop from its half-cocked position and your gun will be rendered inert until you rack the slide. Seems like a bad flaw to have on a SD weapon. Not sure if they ever resolved that issue. I saw a youtube video where a guy demonstrated it, went to the store and tried it for myself, and sure enough, there are two clicks to the reset, and if you pull the trigger again after only one click, you are hosed.

I don't know if the LCP is worth an extra 100 bucks, but all else being equal I'd trust it over the TCP.

The LCP has a pretty good reputation.

Taurus has always been hit or miss. I've had good luck with Taurus, but many others have not.

Both are pretty much the same, I like Rugers reputation and the Taurus lifetime warranty.

I have the PPS and PF-9 for pocket carry, they aren't much larger and I'm more comfortable with a service caliber.

Ruger has great service, but you probably won't have to use it.
