...and the old Kimber's that some hold so much higher than any of the IIs also have MiM parts...by the way...my Kimber was trouble free before I had some work done by the Man from Sugar Land (Texas) and it remains so now...

MIM parts are a fact of life for most sub $1500 1911s. Up until six or seven years ago the Wilson CQB had some including the hammer and sear. The $2500 SA PROs built today has a few MIM parts in them. If done right on certain parts they are not a big concern.

..."Found a Kimber Pro Carry, and got it. It's a great carry gun...light and concealable. My brother couldn't believe it shot smoother and with less recoil than his full sized Springfield Armory"...

this is a function of the increased mass at the end of the reverse tapered bbl, and the mccormick inspired longer link slowing the slide down. good stuff!

I have shot Kimbers and liked them. I have friends that swear by them.

I chose Dan Wesson, and believe that was the right choice for me.

Go shoot some different 1911's. That's the only way you can make an intelligent choice for YOU.

I have shot different 1911's. In particular, Springfield, Kimber, Rock Island, STI and Dan Wesson. All of them are great but I've been doing some reading and I'm starting to believe that maybe a .38 super is for me. The reason I suggest this is because I've been reading how .38 super is a terrific round (and I have been reading up on loads and competition shooting) for comptetitive shooting. Since .38 super can be converted to 9mm rather easily it seems like something to take a look into. Any thoughts?
