Wow I really have to adjust my faith in humanity down. I really thought the Diane Feinstein and the Brady Campaign would wait until Sunday to start the cry for more gun control. Some of the bodies were not even removed form the theater yet, before the cry of this could have been prevented if stopped the sale of magazines, ammunition, assault weapons, semi-autos, handguns etc etc etc. Item for item, all the while saying that hunters don't need any of these items. Wake the hell up, the second amendment to the constitution of the United States has nothing to do with duck hunting.
It may be sound paranoid or politically incorrect, but the purpose of the second amendment is to protect us from the government and the military. That's right it is the responsibility of citizens to take up arms against a government that has fallen into tyranny. Are we at that point now? No. Are we getting there? Maybe.
The President of Mexico even decided to chime in and lecture us that us Gringos have way to much access to firearms. Of course this is from the county in which only the government and the cartels have guns. Mexico's government is corrupt at many levels and often works with for the cartels. The thousands of dead at the border are a testament of how having only one side armed works. A disparity of force always leads to corruption, tyranny and death.
Keep America free by realizing that only an individual can keep himself safe. The police cannot protect you. Violence will happen. Putting all the power in the hands of a government in some fairy tale wish of peace and security will only lead to failure.
