I've only been on this forum for a short time, but I know the poem, Lynn, lynn, city of sin......

and I know you're missing one and a half fingers.....

and I heard you shot a coyote (allegedly) within 500 feet of a dwelling.....with no substansiated evidence available for LEO thankfully

wouldn't be too hard for someone else to put that all together.

Remember what Ayoob says, protect yourself AFTER the shoot

Cool. You mixed me up with another Mass guy (the Lynn poem). As far as covering oneself: It's not what you know it's who you know. Lose the tinfoil hat; I shot a coyote for god's sake (and it's already in the landfill). No one's going to miss it.

Contrary to what others have posted, no game laws were violated. I've since spoken to everyone with a dwelling within 500' of the shoot (they're cool with it) and the dog lady is related to the local chief LEO. I'm pretty sure I'm safe.

I've never seen the logic in these types of laws. For example, where I live if you legally use a gun to defend yourself, you can still be ticketed for discharging a firearm within city limits.

Eddie, I replied to your message at 4AM this morning while waiting for my dog to pee.

I've taken off the tin foil hat, and am almost awake now.

Glad you can't get in any trouble, because I think you did the right thing. My dog was once attacked by a rabid racoon, and I was afraid to shoot the coon after I treed it because of the stupid 500 foot law. The animal control officer finally showed up (she was 8 months pregnant) and this racoon, dripping siliva nd fighting like a banshee tried to get us both, and nearly did. Needless to say I didn't want the series of rabies shots. It would have been so much easier for me to just shoot the darn racoon when it was up the tree in my yard.

The only reason I posted this morning was becasue I like your posts, your a fellow Mass shooter, and I was worried you had disclosed too much. Tin foil is off. Merry Christmas friend!!!

Merry Christmas Depicts,

Similar thing with a rabid racoon happened at the last place I lived. The cops came and shot it out of a tree. A woman then came running out of her house screaming at the police for shooting "the poor thing". She was the one that called the cops. Apparently, she thought that they would capture, cure, and release it.

I live in Eastern MA, on land that borders Conservation land.

I have seen coyotes from my window--and they were big suckers too-- not like the little guys I used to see out West (CO, NM, TX).

No fricken way will I let my daughters play outside unsupervised.

Wild. I moved out of Sudbury MA last May, and I had seen a lot of wildlife there- mostly deer and turkeys, but saw some fox sign around too. Didn't see any yotes, but they were probably around.

I moved up to some farmland in Maine, and haven't seen even a single rabbit track up here. :/

You did the right thing. I am sure that nice old lady will probably start bringing over pies, and cookies in the near future.

Nice Shoot!

I am sure that nice old lady will probably start bringing over pies,
Yote pies, Mmmm.:)

Eddie "Coyote",
I don't think the 500' law would apply to a defensive shooting, but the LEO might not know/think that.

On the other hand, how much line did the old lady have out and how fast was she trolling that Jack Russell?:)

Respectfully,

jdkelly
