I think I caught a bug

While waiting for my CT pistol permit, I had taken advantage of my LGS "practice sessions" and tested out various 9mm autos, but kept going back & forth between a G19 Gen4 and M&P9 M2.0. After finally getting my permit this week (huzzah!), I took the time to really test the two side by side. Either one would suit me fine, but one of them is a more natural shooter for me, so ultimately I brought home an M&P9 M2.0 Compact. Got it home yesterday, field stripped, inspected, cleaned & lubed, and handled/dry fired it just a little.

So I caught a bug, and the only known treatment is range time. I'm chomping at the bit to put some rounds though this puppy and make sure everything is functioning properly. My son is itching to go with me (probably rent a G19 for him, since he's an unabashed Glock fanboy :p ). I see some father/son bonding in my future...

Congrats
And good job in making the “right choice”.
(Had you made the othe choice it still would have been the right choice FOR YOU)

I’m jealous though, as I keep hearing so much about the M&P 9C that 8 really want one so I understand the bug. Mine is gonna be the purchase after I get the shotgun I have planned.
So enjoy and don’t fight the bug.

Went through something similar a few years ago while working on my LTC. Now I have several Glocks, a Sig, and a Browning. One of the best things that has come out of my new hobby is that I have been able to spend more quality time with my son and my daughter-in-law. Both of them have their LTC and their own carry weapons. Now when they come down they allow an extra day for range time!!

Well, I took it to the range for the first time this afternoon, and thought the sights were misaligned. Well, they look pretty much centered to my eye... Then I remembered that I'm a rank beginner, am excited about having a new pistol, and I'm likely pulling my shots low and left, LOL... Great excuse to do some careful dry fire practice and work on grip and trigger control. Makes me wish I had a range in my basement!

I picked one up a couple of months ago, and it's quickly become one of my favorites. I was shooting it a little to the left, and changing the grip insert 1 size larger helped with that.

You made a fine choice. I got an M&P 2.0 .45 ACP that is fast becoming one of my favorite guns.

I rented one and really liked it; those big holes are very satisfying. If they had a .45 the same size as the M&P9 M2.0 Compact, I would have been very, very tempted.
