So i was at the range the other day and noticed some weird brass. At first i assumed it was 17 hmr, from the long bottlenecked rimfire case. But when I found some 17 brass and compared it, it was different.
The only other bottlenecked rimfire that I know of is the 5mm Remington magnum, but as far as i know there have not been any new firearms chambered in that cartridge for some time.
here are some pictures with a .22lr and a 17hmr:
I ASSUME that the "A" head stamp stands for Aguila, as they are the only cartridge maker of any size that still loads the 5mm.
