I have to agree with Lee, there are lots of modern buckshot loads that will perform well in most any shotgun. However, having had the privilege of shooting a Vang shotgun, the reverse becomes true. The Vang will pattern just about any buckshot load well.
Question is how much buckshot do you plan to shoot? If you are going to shoot lots of it, you may save the difference between premium shot shells and the cost of the Vang barrel. If not, just buy the premium buckshot.
The porting is just a portion of what Hans Vang does to these barrels. I know he lengthens the forcing cone, and I have heard that there is some type of jug choking. I don't truly know exactly what all is done, but I do know that the results are impressive.
