I bought two Center Industries 30 rd mags today at a local gun show, and they have the stampled date of 09/92 6P199 on them. Are they California legal pre-ban mags?

Thanks.

The Calif Assault gun ban was passed so assault weapons had to be registered by Dec 31, 1990. I'm guessing your mags are not Calif legal. It's also my understanding, that no matter when they were mfg, it is illegal to import high cap mags to Calif now.
Could be wrong about that, but that's what I seem to remember. Even though the fed ban was lifted on high caps, Calif is still a "high cap free" zone. You can't even mail order a 7 round 1911 mag if you live in Napa County ( I have a friend there). They're still catching guys who buy mags at the Reno gun show and try and drive back home to Calif.

I looked it up. I still get a copy of Calif gun laws since I'm a CRPA life member. According to Penal Code secion 12020: "It is illegal after January 1, 2000 to manfacture, import, sell, lend or otherwise transfer a large capacity magazine (one that can hold more than 10 rounds of ammuniton)."

So it appears it does not matter when it's made. My friend in Napa County has an FFL and a license to buy/sell high caps to law enforcement only.

I'm basing this answer on the fact that your ID says you're in the Southeast and it would not make sense that you bought them at a Calif gun show.
