I dont see this as a long term issue, and I'm not predicting the doom and gloom some others are. Also, the social media on both sides of this issue is absolutely despicable. The hand waving away of this as an overblown hoax contrasted to the "national guard is going to lock the country down for 30 days! For real! My friends dads friend works for DHS and said so!". Both doing more harm than the virus itself.
Anyway, I look at the current situation as something that has ground my recreational shooting to a halt. For me, handguns are for fun or carry. I won't be scavenging the stores for 9mm/.45/.357 as I have enough on hand for personal defense and won't be going to the range for some time. Also, I dont see the need for a rifle of any type. I dont see hunting being a thing and everyone and their brother is snapping up 5.56, mags, and guns. I'm not fighting that noise. I have a couple hundred rounds and a few mags. I dont see I will need a bunch of AR supplies as it to is more of a fun gun.
What I have done is start to buy up a few more boxes of 12 gauge 00. I plan on doing what is asked, hang out at home with family and do puzzles. Watch movies, play video games, read some books. Firearm needs are way, way down my list. However, I find a good 12 gauge a gun that is very good for any perception of additional needed home defense. I prefer to keep a more serious load out, but even bird shot or Turkey loads will work in a pinch. I see the trusty shotgun as something that will handle pretty much all my needs. Keep it home or take it along in the car. I'm still seeing plenty of shells on the shelves.
For all intents and purposes, I've rolled gun needs to the shotgun. Poster child of ubiquitous. Mossberg 590a1 for me.
