If I were subject to restrictions that only allowed me one firearm, CC would be the last thing on my mind. However, I see the validity of your statement, as well.Interesting how many replies so far have been for guns that are not suited to concealed carry.

Right on.I would rather focus on helping my neighbors keep essentials taken care of. Especially the elderly.
don’t have any clue as to what I might do with it, I grab a Savage 24 in 22/20ga.

I understand your argument for a flintlock, but why a smooth bore as opposed to a rifled barrel? Wouldn't you want the best accuracy available if you only had one gun for survival? Just curious.Flintlock smoothbore. Good for small game and fowl with shot, good for at least deer (my most used smoothie would drop a moose) with ball. In a pinch you can make your own powder, recycle recovered balls with a small ladle and mold, and the crick beds are full of primers.
Not something I’d want to go to war with, but a solid gun for survival.
Can’t do much wing shooting with a rifle. And if you are hunting small game # 5 shot is a better choice than a .50 or .54 caliber ball. I have shot better scores on woodswalks with my fusil than I did on the same course the day before with my rifle. And I have beaten rifle shooters shooting my smoothbore. Within the practical range of a round ball and black powder smoothbores are capable of a lot more accuracy than they are given credit for. That’s why I have four of them.I understand your argument for a flintlock, but why a smooth bore as opposed to a rifled barrel? There is not much crime here . I know it might get worse as food runs out . Then I would have no need to go to town . I want a gun that will feed me . With a shotgun and a extra slug barrel I could harvest most any game .
I'm sure with the mass panic going on in the world lately some of you have thought about weapons for survival. If you could only have one gun what would you choose? Myself I came to the conclusion long ago it would be a quality bolt action 22 LR rifle with good iron sights should the scope fail. I can stock/carry a lot of ammo for this great caliber as well as defend and feed my family. Just curious what you folks would choose to carry. I wish you all good health and God bless our country.
