If so, then one is a handgun--either a 1911 or an S&W 357. The other is either an M870, an M700 in 30-06 or a Marlin M60.

If not, then I'd probably go with the M60 and the M870.

I would have to keep my 44 mag RedHawk and my 44 mag Winchester 94. I have a lot of pistols I really like, and a couple a little better than my RedHawk but I was looking towards the utility and versatility of my selection.

My 1911 SIG Triple T and Remington 700 SPS Tactical 308 would be a very close second.

And Series 70 1911 .45 with a rail and night sights. I'd prefer Commander-length but Gov Model will work.

Put the cluster rail from SA on the Scout, give it a white light and a low power variable on QD rings, and stoke it with 155 gr TAP for defense. Have a stockpile of 147 gr ball for the apocalypse. Run 230 gr JHPs and an Insight M3X on the 1911. Lots of 20 round GI mags for the M1A and lots of WR 8 rounders for the 1911.

Then go find out who's responsible for making it so I can only have two firearms...

Yeah that pretty well sums it up for me.

I'd have a really difficult time choosing only two. And the OP's "only two" concept has no scenario parameters. Only two SHTF? Only two survival? Only two hunting? Only two Military/LE?
