I built an AR from Palmetto over Memorial Day, $520 total cost. I'm very pleased with it. I'd rather have the PSA over the DPMS.
All a mid length gas system does is allow one to mount a bayonet on a 16" barrel.
Seriously, I'm not kidding.
Minis are quite expensive for what you get. Am i reading what you said all wrong...cause a mini is more expensive than a quality ar15 or akm.but you're well heeled now and don't need to
Not everyone in this Obama economy is so well off.
Yep, you're reading into that post wrong and yep, Mini's are a bit too overpriced anymore for what you end up with.Minis are quite expensive for what you get. Am i reading what you said all wrong...cause a mini is more expensive than a quality ar15 or akm.
I fail to see much purpose off the battlefield for AR 15 anyway, in my state you can't hunt deer w/ it. The military admitted they wanted to switch to 6.5 Grendel, but didn't want to buy new uppers. So instead they just designed more deadly ammo.
The folder has a milled Stoner Arms ( I liked the name ) lower and a generic side charging upper , Anderson $45 7.5 300 BO barrel with a LAW tactical side folder setup. Great shooting gunYugorpk, what uppers and lowers do you have on those bottom three ARs? What kind of folding stock is that on the folded AR? The look like some good setups!
Browning, what kind of ammo were you using when you shot that deer? I've shot deer inside of 100 yards with a .30-06 loaded with Core Locts and had smaller exit wounds.

Mounting a bayonet was sort of a serendipitous accident that the ad guys took advantage of. The developers were looking for a smoother operating carbine. They figured moving the gas port to tap the barrel where gas pressure was lower would help achieve that goal.
Whether or not a 16 inch middy shots smoother, it does result in a system that's easier to tune and is more forgiving. The higher pressure of the carbine gas system means gas port diameter is more critical than with the middy
