I'm really liking the 9mm Luger more and more every time I shoot it!

I've never really been much of a 9mm fan. My first pistol was a Ruger KP94DC 40 S&W (1996). I shot it for a few years. It was very relible, I just didn't like the trigger. It was the long double action first pull of the trigger. Then the short single action shots there after. I had a couple of wheel guns. Then I shot my friends Gen 2 Glock G20 10mm. I really liked the Glock but didn't want one quiet as big as the G20. So I bought a full size G22 40 S&W (1999). A year later I bought a Beretta 92FS 9mm stainless model. It was a really nice pistol, it just didn't fit me so I sold it, which I shouldn't have. Maybe I'll buy a regular military type M9 with the blued/parkerized finish just to have. Two years later I bought a Glock sub compact G27 40 S&W (2002) for conceal carry in the warmer months. I alway's wanted a full size stainless semi auto 45 ACP. I liked the S&W 4506. However, the grip angle didn't fit me, kind of like the Beretta 92. So I bought a SW1911 45 ACP (2008). This is a very nice pistol. It shoots great, looks great too. You should see my 10 year old son shoot my 1911. He's absolutely devistatingly accurite with it. . . . .says it's now his.

Both my Glocks were bought brand new and are Gen 3 models. I really like them. I have a G31 357 Sig and Lone Wolf Distributor 9mm conversion barrels for my G22. I've shot 12 to 13K rounds through my G22 to date without any failures at all, it's been 100% rock solid. My G27 has about half of that. It's been 100% rock solid too. My G22 even using the extra barrels I use in it, no problem with them either.

When I bought the G31 357 Sig barrel for it I was getting 50 rd. boxes of 125 gr. Speer Gold Dots for $15 per box, plus shipping from this place in Florida. That source has dried up. Now 357 Sig practice FMJ ammo is expensive. That's why I bought the LWD 9mm conversion barrel.

The 9mm barrel in my G22 basically makes it a G17. I can shoot it faster and still be more accurate when shooting with the 9mm barrel over the 40 S&W or 357 Sig. barrels. My groups are way tighter with the 9mm then they are with the other two rounds. I've come to really like the 9mm so much so, that I ordered a new Gen 3 G34 Tactical/Practical 9mm long slide/barrel model, to target shoot and to shoot in the GSSF match in our area this year. Unless it's after my next surgery, in which case I'll be really p!$$ed.

What about any of you guys or gals, have you found yourself's going back to the 9mm or any other cartridge??

NYH1! ;)

If you think about it, the 9mm is just the semi-auto version of our friend the .38, and there's just something about the .38 that feels right to people.

Because its the cheapest center-fire pistol round is why I love it.

If .45ACP ammo cost the same I'd never shoot 9mm.

After years of shooting 9MM, .38 Super, .357 SIG, .357 mag, 10MM, .41 mag, .44 mag., .45ACP,.454 casull, etc, I have gone back to shooting more 9MM than anything else. I have several 9MMs, including semi-autos, a revolver and a carbine. I just like the light recoil, accuracy, plethora of good practice and defense ammo, etc. I have Glocks, Sigs, HKs, etc, but have lately been shooting the 1911 type guns in 9MM more than anything. So yes, I guess I have gone back to the 9MM in a big way...

I shoot more .45ACP than 9mm, but I am really starting to like my new-to-me S&W5906. I really enjoy the quick follow-up and light recoil of the 9.

So, you like the 9mm Luger even more than the 9mm NATO, 9mm Parabellum, or the 9x19?

I have 45ACPs, 40 SWs, .45 Colt, and .410. I enjoy shooting the 9mm at least as much as those. Might be because my BHP is a 9mm.........

My Ruger P95(9mm) simply amazes me with its accuracy each time I shoot it. Only accurate guns are interesting... right? I can shoot one ragged hole with this weapon at 10 yards( and do all the time) with all types and brands of ammo. The circle is 8" and the round count is 100. So yes, I like the 9mm, and ammo is cheap.

9mm is actually more powerful then standard .38 loadings so that's a plus! :)

I had a 9mm Hi Power that I sold to buy a XD-40. Now after a year I'm looking to go back to 9mm for both cost savings and something that my Girlfriend can comfortably shoot.

I did think about it, the only similarity resides in the diameter of the bullets, aside from that the 9mm is much more potent, consider the average .38 spl delivers about 240-250 fpe at the muzzle, while the average 9mm runs somewhere between 340-400 fpe at the muzzle.

The souped up 9mm loads are right on the coat tails of the .357 magnum, with energies close to 500 fpe.

I'm also a 9mm Luger fan-boy.
The versatility of the 9x19 is amazing. Carry it in your pocket or compete at the high end.
You can load a very light load that performs well. It can be used with very respectable S.D. load. The 9mm revolver comp guns are awesome for speed and accuracy. In "open class" competition, 9mm Luger pistols are used with a 1500-1600+ FPS in race guns.

The 9mm Luger cases are free for the picking up at the range. A very wide range of bullets types and weights are available from numerous sources. It also runs the whole spectrum of pistol powder burn rates.

And lastly, all of this is economical to do.

Yeah, I like 9mm Luger--a lot.

Due to its small size - which allows more of them in the magazine - and light recoil, it really shines in compact, subcompact and even pocket pistols, e.g., to name a few, the M&P Shield, Kahr and Bersa BP9. .40 has too much bark and bite in these for my taste, and .45 in pistols of this size has too few rounds and is more likely to have functioning problems.

The 9mm is cheap and easy to shoot. Capacity is a plus. And, with modern loads it's good enough. That pretty much covers it IMO. I really like it. I still prefer my .45acps though.

Yep!

I have a 9mm, a 357 and a 45acp.
The 45acp is my all time favorite.
But cost-wise, I still end up shooting 9mm more than anything else anyways.

What 9mm carbine do you have?
I have one as well.
Fun ain't they?
:D

I enjoy several calibers, and reload for .45 ACP, .45 Colt, 9MM, and others. However, when I get lazy, I buy a few hundred rounds of 9MM, and shoot away. Its a win/win as I save the brass, so I have new stock for reloading.

Last Friday I picked up a 9mm Sig P226 with the E2 grip , night sights and short reset trigger. My second 9mm to go with my 15 year old P239 compact.

Late last year I also added an old favorite - the 45ACP , in a Springfield Range Officer.

I just mean .38 caliber ammunition has been a predominant round in one form or another for quite a while. I wan't comparing them on ballistic merit, I just mean - 38 S&W, 38 special, 380acp, 38 super, 9mm Luger, 357 magnum, 357 Sig, other more exotic 9mm such as Largo, 9mm Mak (maybe a little too big in diameter to lump in here though)...something about the .38 projectile that resonates with people.
