As part of Special Forces reunion week, to honor those who have served before and to bridge the gap between veterans and active duty, my unit is putting on events.

On Monday I got to parachute out of a Chinook. Very cool.

On Tuesday, we invited veterans to come and burn off some ammo with us. I got to fire as much ammo as I could through the Dillon minigun and a large assortment of full auto AK47, M4, M240B, MG88, PKM, RPK, MP5 (silenced, standard, and compact), SCAR in 5.56 and .308.... probably some others. WOW it was sooo much fun! In most of the pics you can see spent brass spitting out, especially the minigun!!!!

Tomorrow it's hand grenades!

I've had a greeeaaattt week! :p

I'm proud to serve, and have deployed twice to Iraq, but it's days like this that are icing on the cake!

I can't say what my favorite was. The minigun was so unreal fantastic! The MP5s and Uzi were great too. Such pussycats and managable. The AK and RPK in full auto are hard to manage. The SCARs were fantastic!

What do I see, a tent to shoot under?? Now I know it never rains in Iraq , so I guess it could be a little wet where you are?? What was the range using for targets?
Would you recommend buying a SCAR based on its performance?
Last question, who got to police up all the brass!!!

Peyton - yes I would buy a SCAR, based on firing only a few mags through both the 5.56 and 7.62. Great features, especially the folding and collapsible stock. The charging handle is in a great place too. I liked it.

And yes, I'm back in Kentucky! Nice to see grass and trees and rain again!

That wasnt a free shoot either, you paid for it, and I thank you for doing so.

Actually, me and you paid for it. He gets to attend though because he's the one who served the country.

Thats what i mean though, he paid for it by serving for people like me. I feel that he deserved it, myself, and earned it through his service. In that way, it wasnt exactly free.

And I don't mind my tax dollars footing THAT bill, better that than Ms Pelosi's jet!
Seriously, looks like a blast, glad you got to go, color me green, and again, thank you for being there. :)

YES, Thank you for your service, and the hardships you may have encountered.
I have shot quite a few different full auto's. The most impressive was a Krinkov at night. Short barrel, Large round, MUCH noise and flash. Very hard to handle.
Looks like you had fun. welcome back home.

Thanks for your service and Great Pictures!

Dare I say they are almost M60 like in quality. :)

Thank you for your service,as everyone else has said. Glad that you're back in familiar territory.

Getting back to the guns, does the mini-gun sound as CRAZY as it does on tv?

The minigun puts a serious smile, ear to ear type, on your face when you hear it...

"BBBRRRRRRRPPPPPP" .... "BBBRRRRRRRRPPPPPP" ..... "BBBBRRRRRPPPPPPPPPPP"

I'm smiling just thinking about it! The Dillon rep said they're only about $80,000 for the basic setup.... If only I were rich, well connected, and lived in a TRULY free country...

As I mentioned in the first post, Thursday was hand grenades. I was able to throw 11, yes 11, frag grenades. Darn fun. I videoed and watched about 70 grenades get tossed. Here's some pics of me throwing and explosions.

I was impressed with the SCAR, in full auto of course... :) Shot it in 5.56 and .308. I liked the features a lot. The charging handle is forward (like HK rifles) on the left, the mag release is ambi, and the stock folds and collapses. When it folds it locks in place really well. Sturdy rifle.

That was part of the annual 5th group
mini reunion.
I had to change plans at the last minute.

Missed some fun, apparantly.
