imbel fn fal question

I don't have an Imbel one but I've heard they are pretty decent. I have an L1A1 built from a British kit that I really like, but those are hit and miss from what I hear. I think the Imbel ones have a better reputation. I'd pick one up if I came upon one for a decent price.

Here are some places I've bought from before, I highly reccomend the first link!

Not sure about this one but you might try anyway

my imbel on imbel FAL is a sweet little rifle. You can ask guys around here that was at the Austin shoot. They kinda liked her. :)

I am guessing your just looking for the wooden stock...IIRC, those were just on the STG 58's and G-1's...I might be wrong, so don't put too much stock in that, so to speak. :p

But if your looking for a wooden front handguard, then the ONLY place I saw that was a guy doing custom work over on the falfiles message board. He did quality work, but was having a bit of an issue with the ferrules getting pressed into the front part that bolt to the gas block. Haven't really followed it, though...like my standard furniture. :)

Now, I didn't say anything about the Izzy rifles...they are a bit different critter...plus the way you talk, you already have the imbel parts kit, so its a moot point...

The falfiles is the first place I would look...that and the excellent links that nwilliams provided...first class places all of them and should take care of you.

Welcome to the club, BTW. :)

inch or metric pattern kit on that Imbel, or is it an original? Either way, metric buttstocks are common enough, as are inch. Original metric wood handguards are going to be difficult to find, inch are not. The inch HG's will fit on a metric rifle. Aftermarket metric HG's were made by www.ironwooddesigns.com and others on a smaller scale. Wood pistol grips won't interchange between inch and metric, but as with buttstocks, are fairly readily available in either configuration.

All the links listed previously are good vendors. If they don't have what you want, a WTB on the falfiles will get you hooked up pretty quick.

Edited to add, DSA had/did some metric pattern wood furniture some time back. Not sure if it is a continuing item though... www.dsarms.com

You can get new, American-made wood furniture for FALs from Ironwood Designs (just Google them). Otherwise your option is to find surplus military wood furniture manufactured many moons ago in Austria, Britain, Canada, Australia, India, or Israel. Proper fit is iffy, and as you might imagine, condition is a big issue. It's very hard to find a whole set of matching pieces -- stock, pistol grip, and handguards -- in decent shape.

Legality is also an issue. There are very exact rules/regulations about the number of imported parts allowed in FALs built in the U.S., so you have to keep that in mind when replacing furniture.

Imbel is a Brazilian arsenal that manufactured FALs for both the Brazilian military and international markets, under license from FN in Belgium (the original designer/manufacturer of the gun). Their standards were always high (still are, in fact). FAL builders like 'em a lot.

You might also try falfiles.com, there is a marketplace that always has furniture for sale.

Be safe, BSR

I was just about to say what limey46 just told you....

Watching the Odd Angry Shot for the first time and noticed their SLR's had wood furniture all around.
