The Virginia Citizens Defense League has recently called a call for action to all Virginians and ALL those who care about the Second Amendment rights off all Americans!

1. ACTION ITEM: Free Lance-Star puts CHP names/address on the WEB!
*******************************************

The Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star has been scrapping for a fight ever since we got fed up with their printing the names and addresses of CHP holders and we put up some information on our web site about FLS's managing editor.

Apparently smarting from that spanking, the FLS has since attacked VCDL by name in several articles and op/eds. In further retaliation, the FLS has since printed the CHP holders' names and addresses in their print edition, and now also their information on line:

The mean-spirited FLS leadership is determined to do this even when they are very much aware that they are endangering innocent lives.

We are preparing a response that will get FLS's attention and I will be providing details in an upcoming alert.

In the meantime, let's get a few thousand emails heading towards one of FLS's customers and ask that customer to contact FLS about their despicable practice of printing those names and addresses.

This time I have chosen Cowles Ford. We will be contacting the General Manager, Shawn Kloppman:

Email address: [email protected]

Suggested email:

Dear Mr. Kloppman,

Cowles Ford is currently advertising with the Free Lance-Star.

The FLS has been printing the names and addresses of Virginia Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) holders, knowing full well that doing such a thing can endanger those permit holders or their families. (Some permit holders are under death threats from ex-spouses, others are threatened by criminals who the permit holder has testified against in court.)

An example of this despicable practice can be seen by clicking here:

I urge you to contact FLS's managing editor, Nancy Moore ([email protected]), and tell her to stop publishing the information on CHP holders.

While she won't listen to me, she most certainly will listen to you.

Please let me know if you are willing to step up to the plate to protect innocent CHP holders - many of which are either current customers or potential future customers.

Sincerely,
[YOUR NAME]

People, we Made a difference when we went after Christian Trejbal and Roanoke.com. We are being tested again. I can not for the life of me understand why this action item, from the top gun rights organization in the US has not been spread far and wide.

Trust me, the gun grabbing leftists are testing us. They saw how we shut down Roanoke.com's trespasses, and now they are testing us again. IF we do not respond to this action item with even MORE VIGOR, they will see weakness. The legislature in Virginia has been considering banning left wing papers from endangering CCW's, we need to show we are still behind this issue. WE MUST follow the action item by contacting the advertisers to the Fredericksburg Free Lance Star! This is a big deal, we are being tested, let us not go "wobbly" now.

King, you are a good man. We Virginians got your back when you need it. This issue seems to be hottest in Virginia for some reason. But we all need to stick together on these things.

The president of VCDL, Phil Van Cleave has authorized me to make these posts, he wants this information spread far and wide. We have seen many times that if gun owners take the time to respond, we WILL be heard.

My concern is that the Free Lance Star is testing our resolve. We trounced Roanoke.com and Christian Trejbal because we all acted together. I really hope we all take the time to send the emails to show our resistance is stronger, not weaker. If we all stand together we can WIN!

God Bless you all

Gen Garnett

follow up

I do not why several of the links do not work now, they worked before. I would not assume by this the FLS is backing down, let us hit their advertisers!. Let's roll!

I can't find anything on their site about CHP holders now. That must be one of the fastest rollovers in journalistic history, including the infamous "Dewey Beat Truman" headline.

I've wondered why none of the editors who publish the names and addresses of permit holders haven't yet realized that their efforts did not spotlight Cho Seung-Hui (the Virginia Tech murderer) or deter him. The obvious reason is that Cho did not have a CHP.

These newspapers victimize the innocent and law abiding while contributing nothing useful to their communities by publishing the names of CHP holders. It's time, I think, for a national dialogue on whether contemporary newspapers and their web sites should receive the extraordinary license granted by the First Amendment. The framers of the Constitution could not possibly have anticipated corporate ownership and direction of the press, nor could they possibly have imagined the possiblity of media with national coverage and influence.

In the meantime it's probably best that the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star and the Roanoke Times go out of business. They've had their run and have taken it to the detriment of the people. These and many other newspapers are little more than propaganists for their owners' agendas. They do not deserve any special Constitutional protection, and it's hard to believe that the public would suffer in any way if that protection were withdrawn. We can get more than enough skewed and slanted "news" anywhere on the Internet. Put these bozos out of business.

Gen - put it this way - My mother recently got out of an abusive relationship, and the man who was beating her is crazy as a fricking loon. I'd no sooner wish her to be found by him and harmed again than I would anyone else in a similar situation. To be anti-gun is one thing, to be anti-gun in spite of factual evidence that they're putting innocent lives in danger, that's a whole other ballgame.

I can't say much more on that, without straying far, far off of the high road, so I won't. I will say that whatever I can do for ya'll to help these sad excuses for journalists will be my pleasure. My fiancee and I are planning on moving to VA as soon as we're able to, because of the freedoms ya'll have there that we marylander's don't. My home state could and should take a lesson from the things that the VCDL and other groups are doing to preserve the rights of gun owners. We're fighting our own battles here, but more and more it seems like a losing battle. At least we can give 'em a hard time every step of the way though, heh.

Count on 2 emails from me daily to Cowles Ford. I spend too much time on the internet as it is, might as well do something productive. :D

Hmm, only thing I see close to attacking the VCDL is this article from three weeks ago. Did we win already?

Or maybe they just want to make us look stupid if we point people at articles that aren't there? Perhaps it would be a good idea to change the boilerplate message to indicate the FLS is now covering up how they're playing politics with CHP's lives?

actually they have attacked VCDL many times. The point is, chp holders, like most who post here, are being treated as villians. We can act, as kingpin has, or we can talk as others choose to do. I am for action, when we act together we win, when we pick at nits, we lose. enough said.

This is easy; the first few CHP holders that have their homes burgled or are otherwise targeted simply need to file class action suits against The Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star. If everyone living in areas targeted by papers such as these rendering such blatant and reckless persecution did the same, this kind of thing would become as rare as smoking on airplanes.

The Cleveland, OH "Pravda" ahhhhhhhh "Plain Dealer" does this nonsense, too. Editor-in-Chief Douglas Clifton published those lists, "...Because people have a right to know who may have a concealed gun...". but refused to publish convicted Sex Offender lists, "...Because even criminals have a right to privacy..."

Clifton has recently retired, and a new Editor-In-Chief is now running the show. So far, though, I haven't heard of any policy changes.

I agree with the idea that after a CHL holder or 2 get 'burgled', hire the meanest lawyers they can find, and sue the B******s out of existance.

Email sent, my mother has a stalker, this kind of thing could be really bad for her if it happened here. And I live in MA so I don't doubt it could occur anytime. I don't want the papers here getting any ideas from them, so what is happening in VA effects me. A backlash there might make a paper here think twice.
