I have a new Redhawk in 44 mag. Love the gun, seems almost psychic with regards to accuracy (hits where I think it should). What a gun!

But, the trigger <inhaled> big time. So I decided to do the same thing I did with one of my 1911s: lighten the hammer spring.

Results were nothing short of spectacular. Trigger pull in both SA and DA are noticably lighter and feel crisper. Not S&W sweet, but getting there.

I got the spring kit from (where else?), Brownell's. Part number 080-665-102, about $7. Came with 12, 13 and 14# springs.

I'm using the 12# and had no problems igniting the hard Winchester primers (120 rounds, 0 failures today). I'll try it with with the really hard CCI primers and post if I have to increase the spring tension, but this is a must-do project.

Redhawk trigger

I have two. The latest is .45 colt. I stoned the engagement surfaces a little and put in the 12 lb. spring. Nice, but a little too light on double action. I put the 14 lb. spring in. Very nice. Shoots well. Cylinder throats are.451, chambers are nicely polished. Better finish than my Blackhawks or Vaquaros.

NO MORE OF THIS. You're making me want one again. Let's see, gun show this weekend. Cash? :cuss: Credit card? See ya later honey.

Quick update.

Another 100 rounds today. One FTF due to a light strike (I looked at the round, pin indent was light), second trigger pull fired the round. As this is a hunting sidearm and I want it to go bang every time, I'm going to give the 13# spring a try.
