…which legitimately seems to be more like “A moment of weekly-weakness,” I bought another Single Six .22.

This time, a 6.5” Bisley model.

It is the second Ruger revolver, and third overall, that I have brought home in the past three weeks.

Oh, I have a 6.5” Single Six convertible so I really didn’t “need” another .22 of similar dimensions, but the feel of the dang Bisley grip frame just calls to me. I guess since it wasn’t an adjustable-sighted version the price remained very reasonable for the condition it was in, so bringing it home was not too painful. There is a light bluing patch near the muzzle and on the ejector rod housing, a spot on the left side of the frame, a touch of discoloration on the loading gate and also on the right side of the hammer spur. That will buff off clean with 0000 steel wool and WD-40. The usual Ruger turn line is there, and that is about it. The original owner even cleaned it up a bit before selling, the chambers and bore needed minimal Hoppes-brushing and patches to come clean.

Here it is with its Bisley brethren. a .32 H&R 6.5”.

And with the .22 6.5” Single Six sporting the unfluted .22 WMR cylinder in place.

Now if I could just find a Flattop .44 Spl. with a Bisley grip in my price range. ;)

It’ll be a week or more before I can get out to shoot it. When I do get a chance I’ll write up how it shoots for me.

Stay safe.

The Flat Tops are out there. I picked mine up the end of last year, not a Bisley one of the older Lipsey’s .44 Special from 2013. NOS on the shelf since then. Tag was faded could barely see the price but it was the 2013 price. I have yet to decide on what stocks to put on it, they are a bit small for my hand.

Funny you should mention that.

I just got this 44 special in a trade last week. This is a Lipsy's special. I don't believe it has ever been fired outside of the factory.
Not a scratch or blemish on it other than a fine turn ring. My only problem with it is it isn't a 45 LC which is what I've been trying to find for a few years now.

When I got my two-tone Mk.II Target model some years back, the gentleman I was buying it from also had a Ruger Single Six Bisley on his table, much like the one you recently acquired. It was a nicely polished blue on the barrel and frame but had a fluted cylinder along with a polished stainless steel grip frame. It was priced the same as the Mk.II and I only had enough cash for one of them.

I took quite some time mulling it over as the Bisley was simply brilliant looking and had a great balance and feel to it. Ultimately the deciding factor was that I had come to the gun show with getting a .22 target pistol and that the Mk.II filled out that requirement perfectly!

I still think every now and then about that Bisley though...

Awesome gun! That is no moment of weakness, but a moment of wisdom. Buy all the guns (and ammo) you can, while you can. It is a better investment than cash which is losing value as I type this message. That reminds me I should order a few extra barrels for my newly ordered and not-yet-received Bond Arms Derringer before my cash loses any more value.

Not seeing the problem.

It's a .44 Special. Not seeing the problem.
I have 5 single sixes, a wrangler....
Not seeing the problem.

Hahahaha! I love single actions--particularly the Rugers. Even my long gun is a single action--a Heritage Rancher revolving rifle in .22 magnum.

Wife has a Bearcat and doesn't want to shoot anything else. Daughter-in-law didn't like the .380 nor the .38 that my son bought her, but loves her Wrangler. I'm going to drag my own Wrangler out of the safe soon and give it another go-around. Bought it for the missus--she hasn't shot it since I found her a Bearcat. It's been kind of neglected.

Put a 5.5" Single Six on consignment at the gun store today. Can't imagine ever getting rid of my 4.6", but I recently made a list of "haves" and "needs" and the 5.5" SS was sucking hind tit. And there's another damn Bearcat on GB. (I want one of my own, bored out to magnum.)
