Ok I know this probably sounds weird but for me it was made an issue the other day. I was at a mall and well had to go to the bathroom, whenever I drop trousers my CCW just kinda flops out (no pun intented) and I worry if I grab my gun someone might see it or if I leave it holsterd it will either fallout and be seen for sure or if it stays in place aI worry about the guy in the stall next to me looking over and seeing my weapon and either freaking out or god forbid making a grab for it. Am I the only one who has this issue?:uhoh:

Yeah I should have worded that differently when I saw it after it was already posted it made me start laughing uncontrolably

Actually, this isn't a weird question at all. There have been previous threads on this subject.

For those of us who pocket carry, going to a public restroom isn't much of a hassle.
If I'm carrying a larger handgun, i remove it from the holster and set it on the toilet tank top (if there is one). If there is a baby changing station, I have used that too.
If there is no place to set your gun, I've read some folks set the gun on their trouser crotch but this does require care. I've also read some folks nest the gun on their skivies..that's not for me.
And, of course, you can use the floor...that's a last resort.
The above is for restrooms with separate facilities for urination and defecation (meaning stalls). I suggest you use the larger handicapped stall since they are usually at the end of the row of stalls.

For those restrooms that only allow one person usage (most convenience stores, for example), I set the gun on the sink (paper towels under it).

I'm sure we'll get some other answers as well as some smart ones.

So, assuming one of the mods changes the title, I'm sure some of you may be reading this, and kinda wondering...

Let it suffice to say that some of our members tend to use the lowest common denominator while communicating the concept of bowel evacuation.

Just remember - if it's on your belt, and visible from the next stall over, it can get grabbed. Or if you've got an empty holster visible, you may get Johnny Law called to check you out.

Eat LOTS AND LOTS of White Castles.

yeah, i have had to do it. i lock the door, remove the pistol BEFORE i drop my drawers, and hold on to it the whole time. it is just an inconvinience. but look on the up side, if someone ever tries anything while your in there, wont they be suprised when the kick in the door to find a pistol in their face!

I've found it isn't that hard to rest my 4" 1911 in my skivvies. Just takes a little practice.
Another alternative is to use a shoulder holster.

Most stalls have a coat hanger on the inside of the door. Hang it there by the trigger guard, no-one can see it.

Find the stall with the baby-change station, fold it out, and lay the gun there. Barring that, I tend to rest it on any stable surface inside the stall.

Alternatively, cradle it in your hands and whisper to it feverishly, beads of sweat dripping from your temples.

Okay, just kidding about that last one.

Use a piece of paracord and put a loop over the grip and then hang it around your neck.

That way you dont do one of the following (that I have heard on other boards):

Leave gun on toilet tank and forget it there (happened to a cop)

If someone attacks you in stall the gun is with you not hanging on door

No one can reach under stall and steal it

Just a thought

If you hang the gun of a coathook, be very careful removing it. There have been a number of NDs when the trigger was bumped against the hook. In one case, the pistol was a 1911, and the carrier popped off a number or rounds as he jumped after each shot and bumped the trigger again.

If you forget to take it out of the holster before dropping your drawers it may possibly flop out and fall into the John, especially with a open top IWB. It would probably be best to carry a Glock because according to Sam Gerard they shoot underwater...they shoot every time.

You must have a "wide stance" is all I have to say :neener:

Just kidding, look at me, the newbie here already ribbin' you guys.

I hadn't thought much about this but I'm taking my CCW class next week

I like the idea of a lanyard... maybe it could even just be a very short lanyard like a "magpul" or the like and it could hook on a manly necklace you wear all the time. Sounds like a cool product idea to me ;)

Drop your drawers enough to take care of business, and no more. The guy next to you may stop the toilet up and you dont want your jeans in that.

Anyway, I put my carry gun my left armpit.

What I do is once the drawers drop I fold/turn the pants, belt, gun and holster so that the gun is between my legs covered up by the pants.

A word to all the Wise Ones here: Flush fast, before you raise trou! It is FAR better to fish the gun out of (relatively) clean water...:eek:DO NOT ask me how I know this....:fire:

I rebuckle my belt just above my knees. This leaves the holster firmly secured against my thigh, just above the knee. It's under my control, still in the holster, and not visible to strangers.

LOL- shep.

Putting it in your armpit, the crotch of your pants, or whatever is a good idea. Just make sure you develop a strategy that helps you to not leave it in the stall.
There are numerous news stories of cops leaving their weapons in stalls.

I'm sure that non-cops have done the same, but it didn't make the papers.

Experience overseas taught us to wait for the stall that puts your wallet next to a structural wall, not a Larry Craig Special divider. This works well with guns, too. I know of truckers whose ONLY use for Flying J truck stops is their floor to ceiling walls between squatters.

There are many cases every year of cops and citizens placing their weapon on the toilet paper dispenser and FORGETTING IT!

...but this is still what I do at work...

I'm thinking if you can't take a weapon off a hook on a stall door without discharging it then it isn't safe around your finger either.
