I have a Mini 14 181 series that has a 1 in 10" twist. These aren't the most accurate rifles so I want to try reloading to see if I can tighten up my groups. I have read that 65-69 gr bullets are recommended for that twist rate. Unfortunately, all the bullets I have seen at that weight are match quality. I am not looking to compete, just create a good plinking round. Any ideas?

With a 1:10 you might be going in the wrong direction with the heavy bullets, don't buy a bunch of them.

I would buy a few and see if they will work first.

If you want to plink with more weight maybe look for a coated cast/swaged bullet.

Buy one box of Hornady 55 grain V-Max.
Or Sierra 53 grain HP Match bullets.

What you get with them is as good as it's gonna get in your rifle.

Thanks guys. Hopefully Santa brings me a few stocking stuffers this year.

I have done a lot of reloading for the Mini 14 (183, 184 series).
Your best loads will come from a lighter 55 grain bullet. I had the best success with IMR4895. I can get 1.5 - 2" groups.
62 gr bullets will work but not as well as the 55's. I wouldn't mess with the 69's at all in that rifle.
