Hmmm... Sounds like I need to head down to Austin to conduct an exorcism!

I don't know whats worse; the fact this guy made us gun owners look bad ... or the fact that I actually put some mental energy into countering one of his arguments. :uhoh:
 
He did really stress the part about a "Make shift" spacecraft. Possibly he thinks they mastered interplanetary travel with space-gilopie ?
 
Waffen,I'm from Dallas TX. I've been shooting pistol competition for 18 years and one of the first range stories I heard(one of many) was about the freakazoid in Austin. I can't beleive he is still in business. Please keep your neice outta there.Public access gun ranges tend to attract some rather strange clientel. That's why I belong to two private gun clubs, and I'm not sure about the mental state of some of the members there!(Just joking if anybody's reading).I'm not familliar with what's available around Austin, but Central Texas Rifle & Pistol Club in Waco is a real nice facility with good people.
 
Wow, that's a weird story. I have seen a few well fed warriors at public ranges and guns shows, but nothing like that. Part of me wonders if it wasn't all an act to make you feel uncomfortable and hasten your departure, but who knows.

True crazy people are numerically rare. (unlike mildly eccentric types whom most of us can find by just looking into a mirror.) Funny thing about them though, is that they seem able to sniff the air, find each other and then gather in clumps. This explains whycome you ran into three of them at the range at the same time.

Your young niece learned a valuable lesson finding out early that, yes Virginia, there really are crazy people and not just something made up for television. Now, she will need to learn that, in any substantial gathering of people, the Great Pumpkin will seed at least one loudly irritating crazy person just for entertainment purposes.

If this guy is like you say he is I wonder why nobody in the anti-2A press has found him? These are usually the types they focus in on to make pro-2A folks look bad.
 
He is known throughout the austin shooting community, however he is hard to find because he lives out pretty much in the middle of nowhere on something like 200 acres of his own.

I am pretty sure he cannot legally drive or does not own a vechicle. I have never seen him operate a vechicle.

You would have to go out there to shoot to really know of his craziness.


Yes he is a somewhat nice guy from what I have seen. (rather he has never been mean to me personally). Although years ago he told my father that he had "run all the idiots off into the city".
 
I don't know what you can't believe about this. The Chinese must have scheduled another flight to earth on the 29th, and so have the Blacks, so with the description given of the Black's space ship, a collision is almost certain in the earth's atmosphere. This will do massive damage to the earth, throwing it off it axis and the residue from the explosion will most certainly block out the sun causing an almost certain ice age.

Makes perfect sense to me, what don't you guys understand? :rolleyes:
 
I think you need to take your niece to your club range as soon as humanly possible so that her range report to her anti parents doesen't get her banned from ever going with Uncle again.

I've head some very strange conversations from folks at gun shows similar to this and chalk it up to their just being pathetic looneys, but pathetic loonies with guns are a little more of a problem.

BTW my crazy fatherinlaw has similar apocalytic fantasies and my wife went to the trouble to demonstrate to him that his dates were off because he had not adjusted for the various calenders used over time. Now he's completely confused about when the EOTWAWKI will occur and even more confusing to talk to. Luckily instead of pestering us he lives in a shack on a rocky little piece of ground on the edge of the Cumberland Plateau that he thinks "the family" will come to when things fall apart.

I think I heard those guys on "The Art Bell Show" one night when I was driving to a bass tournament. I'm pretty sure I've heard that stuff before anyway.

Where does somebody cross the line between "odd" or "eccentric" and make it into the land of sho-nuff "insanity"? I know people that are convinced that the Moon landings were faked, but that studio wrestling is real. Now, they're stupid, but they don't converse with people I can't see, nor are they twitching, constantly brushing off invisble insects, etc. How stupid do you have to be, to be crazy?

Shame about your niece having had to be confronted with this so early in her firearm experience. Refer her to our site here!
 
Stupid and crazy don't go hand in hand at all.

Personally, I would never, ever patronize that range again, and I would openly voice my reasons why to anyone else looking for a place to shoot.
