Mon Dieu. That is quite a setup with the baffles. Obviously you are out in the countryside, but whereabouts?

So many people forget how bitterly France fought Germany during WWI.

Don't discount WW2. The Vichy went Nazi, and while the government collapsed in a month, fifth columners provided a lot of assistance to Allied forces and risked their lives, fought and died for freedom as well. Their service was very importand on June 6, 1944.

"Anyone else amazed at how clean the baffles are? All the baffles I see in the US are shot to hell."

That's because there's no French word for "Bubba"!!

Buck
There are a few holes in the last couple of bafflles... but we do try to shoot the targets rather than the baffles. :)

I helped to build a couple of ranges while in the Navy, one- an international rifle range at Annapolis MD and the other a pistol range in Key West FL.

We used the baffle system as well, however they where 1/2 inch steel plates in the front and back of standing timbers.

It is a very effective design, as it covers the possible angles a mis guided round could take, and keeps it from leaving the range area.

Dryhumor we have largely a bunch of rural folk... the steel plates would be expensive.

As it is all of pay an average of about US$180 a year for the privelage to own guns. :D

Afy, the taxpayer bought the steel plates :D

We just did the building of it. ;)

You have a very nice range to use though, some of the ones near me, are about 20 to 25 miles away. I have not been to them. Fortunately, I have a bit of land I can shoot on.

I just wish I could afford the cost of building a berm/backstop for myself.

The club I belong to has baffles just like that set up on our handgun range. It always amazes me how many of them have bullet marks.
