I'm looking at BudsGunShop and it looks like they're selling armalite AR-15 rifles for 800$. Considering the barrel and the two-stage trigger, it prompts me to ask: Is Armalite the best value out there?

I don't know about "best value" but I have 6 Armalites (including 2 AR-10s and an AR-24) and I like them. :D
P.S. I'm looking at another, I can't help it!

Guess it depends on what you want but that's a good price. I used an ArmaLite upper on the AR I built last year and it's worked perfectly from day one. Recently I started a new AR and used a stripped ArmaLite lower I found on sale. I used their single stage LPK in this lower then married it to the upper. Probably came in at about the same price but have some better parts like the BCM receiver extension/M4 stock/H-buffer but yeah that's a good price.

Look around though, BCM isn't that much more. That's what I'm putting on my first lower.

I'm in the same boat you are, looking for an AR. I was looking at the Armalite, and someone here told me about Spike's Tactical. I've read nothing but good things about them, and at $800, that's probably what I will be buying here in a few weeks.

Last week Cabelas had a Bushmaster flat top for $650. The ad claimed the firearm had carbon upper and lower receivers. I had never heard of a carbon upper; perhaps it was an error in the ad.

It's hard to say that there is one single best value. However, an Armalite for $800 is a very good to excellent value. I own an older Armalite and will be keeping it indefinitely. It's very well made.

Spike's products are also in the top value running.

There probably isn't a "best". There are a list of good bargains though. Your Armalite would qualify in my opinion, as would BCM uppers, Spikes, and the CDNN sale on S&W's. You couldn't go wrong with any of them.

Armalite AR10A2, one heulluva weapon..dont need optics..dont need other crap writers say you need...a basic combat weapon at its best...dont need to say anymore..

I bought an Armalite carbine upper a couple years ago. They were blowing them out on some thanksgiving sale for I think it was 379 for the complete upper. I could not be happier with it.

That Bushy with the carbon fiber upper and lower is called the Carbon 15. You either love it or hate it.

There are lots of good deals to be had in terms of getting an AR. That Armalite deal sounds good, and so is the Spike's. I've handled both and liked the Spike's better, although it may just have been the Spider I liked.

Since most of us aren't buying weapons for combat, but rather hunting, paper punching and tactical shooting matches, the optics, and other "crap" is neccesary to get the most out of the gun.

I like both Armalite and Spikes Tactical. I have an AR10 and just recently (last couple of weeks) I purchased a Spikes middy complete upper and lower separately for just $700. Great Buy!
