Is it just me or is there a conspiracy going on?

Why is it whenever I'm attempting to purchase .223 in bulk all the internet sales, such as Cabela's, Midway, Graf's etc all say out of stock?!

I'm looking for 55g FMJBT for paper and plinking and it always seems as though all the lower priced ammunition is always listed as out of stock? Do they think I'll stay there and buy a higher priced item? It can't be the markup on other items is any greater, or is it because all us .223 shooters are buying up all the 55g ammo? It strikes me as funny that I can buy 60g at $10 and change but 55g is almost never there (for $6 or so). Aughhhh.....:banghead:

So I guess the only option is that every time I find 55g FMJBT bullets - buy them all, this way when you guys are looking for 55 grainers I'll be able to sell them to you at great profit margins! :D (if I have any left)

Remember the days of really cheap South African battle packs of 5.56mm, the Guatamalan surplus, and Radway Green?

I should have maxed out a credit card back then.

mugsie, are you looking for bullets, or loaded ammo? The responses in this thread seem to assume the later. If you are looking for bullets, try www.wideners.com.

Yes it is collusion by the big bullet makers. They all get together around the golf course and plan on where they will stick it to the reloaders and who will get some this week. There only goal in life is to screw with you the customer and make you complain about the price. I suggest you write your congressman and ask for a national inquiry and senate hearings where the big ammo makers would go to the hill and give testimony about how they were screwing you the customer.

Sorry about that. Just a flashback. :)

Working for an oil company, every time I hear that someone is suggesting a conspiracy to stick it to the consumer it just comes out.

Seriously though, this is called supply and demand. Demand is up worldwide for mineral resources like oil, copper and lead and you are now competing for the materials worldwide. Also the costs of transportation are up so you get stuck several ways.

Sorry about that, but blame it on the "world economy".

I bought it all!!! Sorry... Try Sportsmans Guide, they're usually competitive with $ and will ship backorders when they get in... usually 4-5 weeks. This is probably what the rest of the world is doing. Just open up a disposable e-mail acct because once they have you on file, they will NEVER stop sending e-mails about "great deals" on the the rest of their........ stuff.

The sandbox has created a limited supply of .223. The last thousand I bought was $139.00, that was 2 years ago (I think, maybe 3). Heck, if I could find it for that now, I'd buy 5 or 6 thou. That was for 55grain fmj.

I have the same problem. I have been having trouble finding bullets for 223 also. I found some 62 grain pulled for a good price and bought 1,000 a while back. I like the larger bullets better and think I am going to stay with 62 to 69 grain bullets. A friend found a deal on 7,800 pulled 55 grain tracers that won't light for $199. He called and was told that it is at least a two month backorder. Very hard to find right now.

The Globalists are bring the WAR here and they don't want to supply ammo to their future enemy. This place is going down, it is the only way they can write off their national debt. Roll your own.

Do you know how to pull potasium nitrate out of a manure pile?
