i have a kimber eclipse with nite sights i want to take out and have novak fixed sights with no holes or anything.

would like to have the type where you line up the squares. anyone know if it is easy to do? what tools do you need? how to take off the front and back?

much thanks

Don't know why you'd want to ditch the night sights. I've heard that Kimber sights are a real PITA to remove, they are in their tight(understatement). I beleive Kimber also has their own dovetail cut. Best to find out which sights you need, buy them then have a smith do it.

if i posted pictures would you guys know? i just want some plain sights, these night sights are bothering me.

i think i can unscrew the rear sights but would like some advice first. thanks

Kimbers cut is different than the Novak. I took out my rear sight on my Kimber and put a J-Point on it. Getting the sight off is not that difficult if you have a mechanical background of some sort and are familiar with tight toleranced stuff like removing/installing bearings for example, but getting it back in without a sight tool is risky to me.

thanks walkalong. so how much will it cost on average for a smith to remove the sights and install new ones? 40 bucks?

I don't know. Call around. Kimber will do it for you I'm sure. Call and ask.

On My Kimber Compact I simply sent the slide back to Kimber, like $8.00 insured, and for about $20.00 over the price of the sights I had the Kimber slide back with NS in a week and a half or there about. Give them a call. locally I would have paid more and waited longer for the sight installation. Kimber sights are in there tight.
