Is the M&P 45 Top Heavy?

I was in the shop, and decided to take a look at the M&P's since I've heard so many good things about them.

I was specifically interested in the 45, so I checked it out, and it instantly felt top heavy to me.

I then picked up the 9mm and 40 and they felt a lot better to me.

Of course this was empty mag. What always gets me is how hard can it be for a shop to have a hand loader make some dummy rounds for a customer to get an approx feel for it loaded.

Unfort, zero ranges near me have this for rent.

I reckon it will feel a little more balanced loaded.

I have the m&p 45 acp and for me it's great. good balance comes with three different grips so you can tailor it to you. Recoil is not as harsh as the xd and point of aim was more natural than either the xd or glock. just my 2cents ajb

It's a polymer framed pistol. It's steel on top of plastic. Of course it's "top heavy".....but it should be negligible when firing. Don't bank on a magazine leveling it out. Every time you pull the trigger the weight in the magazine obviously changes.

For a polymer pistol, it's pretty well balanced. It's less top heavy, for example, than an XD45 4".
