Is the recoil spring guide of a Marlin 75C supposed to have a bend to it?

Learned a harsh lesson today about working on a smooth, stable surface. Was disassembling a very crusty pawnshop-special Marlin 75C on top of a small bookshelf. Went to go look up one part on my computer, and when I looked back the barreled receiver had fallen barrel-first onto my hardwood floor (nice dent now), and the bolt components had all fallen out of their own accord.

Everything looks shipshape, except the Recoil Spring Guide (part #64 at Numrich: http://www.e-gunparts.com/productschem.asp?chrMasterModel=082Zz75C) has a slight bend in the last 1/3 of it. Is this normal, or was it bent during the fall?

If it is damaged, I'll try to slowly straighten it out. Failing that, they're $6.40 at Numrich. In the future I'll disassemble on the floor. No huge hurry to answer this one, as every ferrous component is not sitting in a bag of WD-40, next to a bag of bronze wool. Seemed pretty functional overall, and trigger is good, but hasn't been cleaned since it left the factory, back before I was born.

It's a pretty neat little autoloading carbine, a short Model 60, with the factory-carved squirrel on the stock. In rough shape, but was $59 OTD. Will post pics if I ever get it up and running. Take care, -MV
