Is there such a thing as an A2 free float handguard?

The more I work on my gun the more I find myself going back to the A2, I was very excited to drop all sorts of lasers, lights, and grips on my gun, but now I find that just getting a comfortable grip on the handguard is all I'm doing with the mlok. The big KAC broomstick grips that were so fashionable when I was a kid have fallen out of favor for tiny little bumps that just help you find your place for a c clamp grip. If it's going to be like that why not just get a handguard that feels good in the hand out of the box? Only trouble is I want to keep my barrel free floated; has anyone heard of something making A2 style handguards that can fit the bill?

Same here. I also really miss the profile of the old A1 triangle guards, although on my last build I found a very nice triangle-ish profile freefloat forearm... even if it has a full-length cheese grater along the top.

That weight is a deal-breaker, though. Probably great for a competition rifle, though.

Those "cheese graters" have yet to grate anything on my hands, I actually prefer having my Mlok with a full rail on top because it aids in support hand grip retention and also aids in heat mitigation.

That's the main thing I hate about my MLok handguard, there's like seven cut outs around the gun and if I could plug them up I'd be fine but four of them are curved slightly so they can't accept mlok stuff even though they're perfectly cut otherwise.. it's like they added four big holes my fingers fall into all the time all around the gun and made them not work on purpose, reminds me of a art exhibit I saw once where a guy made a fork with a chain for a handle, artificial uselessness.

Which free float model is that you're speaking of?

I have one of these free-float style handguards with tri-angular handguards on an A2 style target rifle I put together years ago. It works very well. However, as already mentioned, it is heavy.

Since, the rifle was put together as solely a range rifle, the weight isn't a problem. However, I sure wouldn't want to lug this thing around very much.
