Got to go to the range Friday and Sunday (today) and as usual just had a hell of a good time. Saw some extremely crappy shooters, saw some extremely awesome shooters. Met some new people. Helped some people out. Some gentleman were watching a friend and i saw them plugging their ears with their fingers, so i gave them each a pair of disposable plugs!

Being in college, some weeks are absolute hell. With hours upon hours of studying or projects, the weekend range trip is always something that helps me pull through it all. Whether your in the work world, education world, or unemployment world, i feel as though everyone can look forward to it.

Anyone else look forward to it this much?

Unfortunately I can't afford to go shooting every weekend... I have kids that are more important to feed than my guns, but when I do go shoot I make sure I get enough fun time in to get me through until I can go shooting again.

Nope. 'Cause I only get to the range on weekends once a month (sometimes twice if traveling to an away match).

But my weekly Thursday night practice sessions sure do re-set the insanity meter for me!

every trip to the range gives me a new project..... be it wanting to try a new scope for a particular gun, make a new hand loaded round for a gun, etc..... always more different things to try.......

I generally try for mid-week range time as it gets so ridiculously busy at my range on weekends. I go whenever I figure out a day off or swing a morning off. Knowing I have a range day upcoming sure helps me get through.:)

I try to go shooting on my lunch hour at least twice per week. It's an indoor range (I prefer outdoor) but like I said, I can do it over lunch.

The weekend is where it is at though. I really enjoy that time whether I am teaching a class or enjoying a match for my personal benefit.

It is an addiction, although arguably a healthy one. If I go more than 7 days without shooting I really miss it. It is a stress reliever if nothing else.

Mondays for me. Conference calls all morning and quiet afternoons. I like to sneak away right before lunch, have a sandwich at the range when no one else is there, then shoot for a few hours.

I love it when there is no one there but me.

Kind of funny because sometimes I'll catch myself wishing for Monday.

When I actually get a range trip planned its what gets me through the week. I feel like if it falls through for some reason the rest of my weekend will be ruined.

Sadly thats only a monthly occurrence.

It is something I look forward to, but I do not hesitate skipping a session at the range to gun in the field, or on the water. Getting out doors with my family is my biggest passion.

Friday nights! We have a 50-foot smallbore league and getting out to the matches is the highlight of my week. Friday after work I get home, eat, pack my gear and then trundle off to whichever range we're using and enjoy shooting and BS-ing for a few hours. Makes the week much more bearable.

We were snowed out of last week's shoot and it kind of bummed me out. :(

i never go to the range on the weekend, its way too crowded. tuesday through thursday between 2 and 5pm best times.

The ranges around here are closed when I am up and I got a single opportunity once a month to get some range time in.

Now that I have a membership, I make it a point to stop by at least once a week. Its what keeps me sane. I'm still recovering from shoulder surgery, and the five or so months that I couldn't shoot drove me stark raving mad.

That, swimming, and running are some of the best allies that sanity has

Great responses. Interesting/cool how everyone finds a day, whether it be week day or weekend, to make time to go and has a routine of sorts!

Even though I was just there today I want to go tomorrow! I'm not a member of a private range yet, will do that sometime this summer. But our public range 15min away is only open Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun so it helps limit how much I can go...which is a good thing to a degree....so I don't go everyday and blow through my monthly ammo order :)

TexasRifle-I love the Monday plan. Maybe that would make me look forward to Monday's more as you mentioned!

+1 on the running. I like to get over to the gym during lunch, makes the work day a lot better.

Going to the range weekly is nice too. I shoot mostly 22LR so I can afford to shoot weekly.

Oh yeah. a trip to the range is definitely relaxing. I get cranky when I can't shoot about least every three weeks. Ideally weekly.

I don't make weekly range trips. I prefer to have one or two big trips a month. However, I do enjoy them and find it relaxing on my nerves.

Ah the joys of retirement. Midweek morning range trips when I have the whole place to myself. My range is about three miles up the road and open 24/7/365.

When i go to the range its always fun. I live in Central NH and my range membership is to Hale Mtn. F&G in Shaftsbury VT. Great range, 500 yrd, 400, 300, 200, 100 yrd ranges and a nice trap range and trout pond. So i have to get one closer to where i live so i can shoot more often.

I go the range almost every weekend during the above freezing months and it is definitely a nice break from the week. And the great thing about being a reloader is that I can enjoy reloading all of my spent ammo during the week and then go blast through it again the next weekend!!!

Blackrock,

You nailed it! Recently retired, we can get to the range during the week, avoiding the crowds on the weekends. Ten minutes and we're at the range for an hour or five whenever the weather allows. It is wonderful.

But it wasn't long ago when we were lucky to get there one weekend a month. Those sesions always helped both with attitude and in body. They really were therapeutic.

Jeff
