Ive been in contact with a local man who is trying to sell two rifles, here is what he said about a 1955 (I think) .303 Isapore Enfield and a Yugo Mauser (hes not sure exactly what model). Do the prices seem right and are the rifles even worth getting?

The Enfield was never issued,it was still packed in its original cosmoline when i bought it and it is in excellent condition, shoots great, comes w/bayonet.I was asking $250 for it.The Mauser has slick action, excellent bore, but the wood is dinged up some,it is 8mm,it does fire but im not sure where it prints on paper,it comes w/several boxes of collectable ammo, was asking $200 for it.If you want them both i will sacrifice for 375 cash.

I'd grab the Ishy. It fires a common round, 7.62x51.

Actually, if its a 1955 Enfield, its probably chambered in .303 British. Are you sure that it is Ishapore and not British?

Yugo Mausers with matching bolts can still be had for $129 at J&G Sales.

Mauser all the way... I wouldnt accept an Ishapore for free.

An unissued Ishy Enfield is a real find. Snag it!

Dinged Yugo Mausers are worth $129, and you can buy them everywhere.

Even if the Enfield is in .303, I would get it, but the 7.62 Ishy is a particularly nice find.

Ill buy the Ishy from you if ever want to sell it. See, now you have nothing to lose.

My two cents worth

If the Isaphore was made in the 50's it has to be .303. 2A's weren't started in production until 1963. Even if it is in cosmo there is a large chance it is one that has been FTR'd and not actually never issued. The Yugo could be any of several Mausers that unless somehow special aren't worth what the guy is asking.

I would offer about $250, at most, for both of them, even with a couple or three boxes of surplus ammo thrown in.

I have both a 1944 Mauser (K98) and a 1968 Ishy in 7.62. I use my Ishy for a door stop, not because it’s a bad rifle. But my Mauser is just more accurate and a hoot, that’s right I said hoot, to shoot. I'd go with the Mauser; even the Yugo VZ24's are good shoot rifles. But then again I have a soft spot in my heart for Mausers. Just my $.02
