I have my fathers safe. it hadn't been open since 1995.

I came across one of my favorite little rifles. I bought it from a kid in high school for 10 bucks because it shot a foot to the right. 3 taps with a hammer and it was dead on.

It is some type of falling block (?). Single shot in 22 mag. no groundhog or squirrel was safe within 50 yards.

It has been abused. my plan is to try to refinish the stock and have my son media blast and cerekote it.

one of my all time favorites. 20220307_174752.jpg 20220307_174229.jpg

My dad has an M-49 repeater in 22LR. Looks pretty identical to that one and I think that was the point though I am not sure what inspired Ithaca to go that route.

this was my first rifle as a kid in the 70's .But it was a .22 LR. could never pull the fired case out with fingers ,had to pry them all out with pocket knife or small screw diver ,. made for slow plinking

Maybe you should have cleaned it more often. However, it sounds just like me, shoot 'em until they won't. ;)

Yes, it is a Martini action styled to look like a lever action. I refer to it as a tilting block rather than a falling block. Had one when I was a teenager. Recently picked one up for nostalgia's sake.

Still have one I bought at a garage sale years ago. Not the most complicated engineering, but good for youngsters. The ejector stopped working so I fixed it with a spring from a Papermate pen.
