I have a couple questions about the 12 ga mdl 37...

One is the chambering in the barrel? Could I put a 3" deer barrel (or turkey or whatever) on my 2 3/4" and then it would work, or is the extra 1/4" too long for the action?

I don't have a lot of money, so would it be as good to just have a screw in rifled choke tube put on the barrel I have now, would the loss of accuracy compared to the full rifled barrel be so bad that it wouldn't be worth spending the money on.

I mostly use the gun for varminting, coyotes and crows, we've been hunting areas where it's "No rifles No handguns" so I was hoping to extend our range using sabot slugs.
If it worked really good on varmints I'd consider using it to hunt deer with... but we only get one deer a year here in Washington so I'd be hard pressed not to go someplace where the efficiency of a rifle would be legal.

Thanks,

Jeff

Nope, it'll take a magnum action to fire 3" shells, not just a barrel chambered for 3" shells.

Also, sabots almost always need a full rifled barrel to do well, I've not seen one do well with just a rifled choke tube.

OTOH, full bore diameter slugs can do well with the rifled choke tube, but it'll take bench work to find out if so and which one. Most folks can do well out to 50 yards with a bead sight and full bore slugs.

Also, Williams makes a set of sights that clamp onto a vent rib and have enough adjustment to zero most slugs. I tried a set a while back and they were OK.That might be the best cheap change possible.

HTH....
