Starline brass has more brass on backorder than in stock....380 availablity time is now 3/15.....based upon their projections the ammo situation has gotten worse....it has been over a year since the ammo inventories have been "normal"...wally world still has more empty shelves than full....I've had an order at Grafts for large pistol primers since 4/09 and it still is in the queue....I know that some stocks of ammo have been replenished but geeezzz it has been 14mos now and I still have to ration my ammo. enough ranting I am going to bed.

I feel ya. I really wish I could just order what I need or even better, walk into a store and find what I'm looking for.

I sure hope it ends.

I have no problem getting componets. I just bought 2K primers at my dealer this week. I bought some 380 and 223 at Walmart a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I just live in the right part of the country.

Randal,

Don't give up. My local area has improved greatly too. Since the beginning of December I picked up two 100 small pistol primer packs. A week later they had full bricks along with a huge assortment of pistol powder. A while later another local shop had every type of primer in stock except large pistol magnum and small rifle magnum along with having nearly every available powder. I was able to pick up some H4350, Reloder 25, Hodgdon Universal Remington 1 1/2 primers, Winchester SP, and CCI 400's. All of it within the last month and a half. Things had been dry around here for a little over a year previously. It will get better, just be patient.

I think, as others have suggested, it depends on where you live.

Here in Wisconsin I'm finding ammo without too much problem. But then, it's winter here, and few if any are buying it to go outside and shoot. I expect things to pick up in March or April.

I reload, so I very rarely buy factory ammo, but i keep checking supplies locally to see where we're at.

There's lots of .223 ammo available here (including the Federal 100-round packs for $39.97 at WalMart). And while you may not be able to get exactly the brand you want in the size you want, virtually all handgun ammo has been available as well.

As far as Grafs goes--I put in an order for Large Pistol Primers on April 19. Emailed them last week and asked where they thought I was in the queue, and the answer was that they expected my order to be filled with the next shipment from CCI.

I've had an order at Grafts for large pistol primers since 4/09 and it still is in the queue....

That's not right. I ordered 5k large pistol and 5k large rifle primers from Grafts in September or October, and got them within a week. Did you call, or order online?

I was in a Brass Pro in Myrtle Beach a couple of weeks ago. They had a ton of ammo. I found a stack Remington .22LR Thunderbolt. Midway is constantly on backorder and when they get it, you're limited to 500 rounds. I picked up six bricks and walked to the counter expecting to hear I was limited to one or two. The clerk asked if I needed anything else, so I went back and got four more boxes. Had to call my kid to help me carry it to the truck.

They had components, as well, but I didn't take note of what.

Maybe I am reading too much into the Starline Brass backlog, it is definitely getting worse.

Starline increased their delivery date for 380 brass to 4/09......it looks like everything has been pushed out......again!

Randal45, what is .380 brass from StarLine going for these days? I bought some R & P brass from 3 Lees Co's at a gun show a month ago, and it was about $21 per 100 ct. You might give him a call; 308-381-8285 Open Mon.-Thur. 1:00-6:00 p.m. LM

Components have been much more plentiful in my area for the last couple of months, but .380 seems to be non-existent. I don't shoot it, but the last few times I've been to the range, someone has asked and they were out.

"Where is Starline's production capacity going? Military?"

I suspect hoarding. Prolly the sons of guys who stocked up on pre-ban Hi-Cap mags years ago, and a bunch of regular people who after going through the shortage have decided they need a much larger personal inventory than before.
Imagine if people decided they had to have a months worth of food on hand instead of three or more trips to the grocery store a week.

My Mid-November order for a mere 500 .380 brass cases remains unfilled. (I ain't hoardin' - lol)

I presently have an e-mail out to Starline to try and get some status.

I ordered 500 .45LC cases and 500 .41 Mag cases back in Sept.
I received the .45LC stuff quickly, and was given a back order date of Oct for the .41 Mag. That slipped to Nov, then Dec, then Jan.

I found some locally in Dec, and cancelled the back order.

My guess would be that they are running full bore to produce high-demand calibers such as .45acp, .40 S&W, 9mm, etc., and as such, calibers such as .41 Mag and .380 are taking a back seat.

I was at my local Scheels tonight talking to one of the sales clerks in the gun department and asked him about .380 bullets & brass. He told me that he recently made a lot of calls and every place he contacted is back ordered. Don't sound good. LM

Just received a shipping notice from Starline on my order for 500 .380 brass cases.

The order is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow, roughly 3-1/2 months from order date.
