As freedom loving firearms owners, we should be on the right side of the constitutional right to keep and bear arms, which makes our choice of whom to support in this matter quite simple, I would think.

Not simple at all, IMHO. Choice is not black or white but many, many shades of gray. If your congress critter, who may be pro 2A, is also BSC...(ends with 'crazy')....Hard to be a single issue voter, with so much else going on..again, IMHO. YMMV and all that.

The issue that some folks do not see the validity of not being a single issue voter is played on gun forums, over and over and over. That is because the gun issue is usually correlated with their other political views so they see no conflict.

What else is new? That being said - let's go back to discussing support of gun rights organizations that you want to support given their characteristics.

Now 9 days after I joined JPFO with a 2-year membership. Getting plenty of emails and newsletters. Not one single piece of paper mail yet. No membership card, no pin, no bumpersticker, no brochures, pamphlets, no "welcome to the club" letterhead... Nothing.

Sounds great! No clutter. What use is all that anyway in the actual scheme of things and in the digital age? You will eventually get something physical from this very small organization that is understaffed, but really, why any longer.

Physical items don't travel as fast as electricity. :D

But in real terms, the less they send you the more money they have left over to pursue their goals, and your goals.

That's pretty much why I turned off my receipt of the physical magazine and mail from the NRA long ago. Trusting in them to spend the money wisely, of course.

I think the NRA spends nearly all my membership money on mailings asking for more money. I'd rather they spend it where it would do the most good.

My local politicians and charities seem to do the same. It irks me to know any money I give appears to simply turn into more mail. I guess I'm helping the print industry stay alive.

I get that. I'd just like a little more confirmation/affirmation than I've seen. They explicitly described a membership package including some of things I mentioned. I dont need any ongoing mail correspondence beyond that. Maybe a quarterly magazine or something.

Agreed, mostly. I'm tongue-in-cheek about the NRA because of how they pose so much, and seemingly for gun lovers, not so.mucb for people who need to be convinced. Their ads always pop up in front of gun videos and seemingly not much elsewhere except on shirts and stickers. Obviously gun nuts are being targeted more than skeptics. Seems a huge waste of money.

As the title of this thread suggests,
"It's time, stop stalling, join now ".
One great yardstick to measure the efficacy of the various pro-gun organizations is to watch current events and see who the "other side" is complaining about. The quotes below clearly show who our adversaries respect and fear.

Exactly! Years ago, the big boogyman was the NRA, because it is the largest. The GOA is also growing, so it’s on their radar as well. All the negative hype against these groups is because the anti’s and their media cronies are driving it because of their success.

The NRA has not been proficient IMHO, The mismanagement of funds and mainly sitting back doing nothing while the liberal infringe our gun right got me tire of supporting them. But desperate times calls for desperate measures.

Even highpoint is getting in on the action. Now is the time!!! Join up and send letters emails to elected officials. Or we and our kids suffer.

I rejoined the nra after a long hiatus, 2 weeks ago and fpc as well the time is now to stand up for our rights. Fpc sent a letter to representatives that senator schumer replied to, that in essence stayed he was pro 2a, however as I read along he stayed out right that reasonable him laws nerd to be passed. I responded to his reply urging him to not cave in on the anti gun legislation, that will do nothing to reduce crime and further Pelosi, Feinstein, and Bloomberg's agenda, and also to stand up to defend the Bill of Rights.

Went to my local gun shop. About 15 or 16 guys lined up waiting to go in. I went down the line and asked simply, "are you an NRA member"? Most were not, followed by excuses about why they don't like the NRA. People just don't get it what we're up against.

Not really an issue of NRA wars or what organization is the best. More like, OK you got the money to spend on a gun, why not spend a few more bucks so you can keep it. Think of it this way: when your gun club asks for help on a work day, the same guys show up to shoulder the load, right? It's no different with trying to get financial support for the RKBA groups.

As noted above if you use Amazon use Amazon Smile instead, various gun groups you can have the Smile money go to.
Mine goes to the California Rifle and Pistol Association.

If you have a State group you like and support see if they are a Smile charity (if you use Amazon).

While I am not happy with the current state of the NRA they are still the 400lb gorilla.
Are they the best use of my money, maybe maybe not.

Pick one and give, every little bit helps.

Member of the NRA. I also moved to Virginia about five years ago. There is a group here called the VCDL. They are very active in state gun rights. They tend to keep an eye on national issues also. Not a nock on the NRA, but they send out a weekly email newsletter that is clear and concise on issues. They never ask for money! Anybody can sign up for their emails.

Good to see the uptick in awareness of the unprecedented assault currently being perpetrated on the 2A and the resulting support of the numerous pro-gun organizations.

State organizations are a great source for legislative alerts, especially for state issues. Most focus on local issues but are affiliated with NRA and rely on them for current national events, passing on the most important.

NRA-ILA puts out daily email and text bulletins, covering both local and national legislative issues as well as the weekly "Grassroots Alerts". These are available free by signing up @

Thanks to THR, you can also find "Grassroots Alerts" here: https://www.thehighroad.org ./index.php?threads/latest-nra-ila-alerts-this-thread-is-for-your-information-only-no-comments-replies-please.849343/page-12

Here is a handy listing of the many programs and services available through NRA, NRA-ILA, NRA Foundation FYI. Oh, and if you do not wish to receive fundraising requests, just call (800)672-3888 to be removed from that mailing list.
