:D :D :D
I bought my first gun this weekend! Walked in, filled out a form, called in for BG check, pointed my finger, paid, walked out with a nice .22 rifle! Too bad I can't keep it in NYC :uhoh: So it's upstate in my familly's mountain house (NYS). Attached a 32x4 hunting scope to it, had a blast with plastic soda bottles. Should I mention the :D and :what: on my 16-yo and 14-yo broters' faces :) when they saw it!

Guns are great! Can't wait to move to FL and start a new hobby... handguns, lots of handguns!!! :D :D :D

:what:  OMGsh HIT THE DIRT!!!

Congratulations armedpolak. A .22 semi auto rifle and a single shot 12 gauge shotgun were the first two firearms I ever had as a teenager. My dad got them for me one Christmas.

Those .22 rifles are fun. First time I took mine out to a relative's lake and just let loose spraying in the water. Dad said I must have, in my imagination, been at Tarawa beach at that moment.

Congrats on your purchase of an ASSAULT WEAPON DEATH MACHINE!!

Try not to kill too many babies with it.

TimboKhan

TimboKhan,
Evil handguns, rifles, and shotguns ALL need permit, license, and registration. Handguns need balistic fingerprinting. Initial pistol permit will run you $450, rifle and shotgun $250. I have the applications on my desk at home... but since I JUST got a job offer from FL, I think I'll skip :)

Don't come to Florida unless you intend on bringing a pro-gun vote! The RKBA isn't some priviledge we play with down here, it is a Right, and Rights require defending. The RKBA isn't some fun thing to do in FL like going to Disney. A lot of people have fought very hard, for many years to prevent this moderate and diverse state from becoming exactly like California.

We have too many anti-gun leftist socialist communazi yankees from NY as it is. We'd be very happy to get one that is actually pro-gun for a change.

You'll see it when you get here. While it isn't in-your-face, gun issues and the gun culture is about 1,000x more alive here. People here don't have this built-in insta-hatred of guns and irrational fear like so many people do in California. It is just normal. Not overdone, not taboo. Just something else in life.

As a supporter of the 2nd Amendment and gun-rights, your vote will at least count here, rather than be a meaningless minority vote in a sea of gun haters.

Don't Tread On Me, I don't think you have anything to worry about with armedpolak :D

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. . .

We've infected another one! Yippee!

Someone meet him at the FL border with a carpool invite to Knob Creek!

Don't Tread On Me

Don't Tread On Me,
You should read some of my previous threads... me and my family been disarmed once before... in socialist Poland. I'm freedom loving US citizen who happens to be registered with the *right* party and voting every single time. No worries! Guns are save with my vote :)

P.S. TRISHA, And I would live to be welcomed on FL border, bring a gun, it will make a great gift :)

AH! The first step on a very long journey! Learn, BE careful & practice, Practice, PRACTICE! If you do it right, you will enjoy many year's of gun fun!:)

Congrats! Just don't go yelling "I've got a gun!" when you go into the sheriff's office to get your CCW license :p
You are exercising the only absolute line of defense this country has from being disarmed and ruled like your family was in Poland. Welcome aboard.

Congrats A.P. Might I recommend that you take the NRA's Basic Handgun Course. I inheirited my father-in-law's guns last year after he passed, and I took that class with my then 12 year old son. Even if you shoot a rifle, that class has a lot of useful information. Shoot safe and have fun!

YEEEEHAWW!!!!

Congrats AP, my first gun was my Glock 21. (It's sitting not 2 feet from me as I type) I plan to be buried with it, I'll need SOMETHING to kill lefties with in my version of Heaven. (Just kidding mods.) Seriously, you'll never forget your first gun, congratulations.

Congrats!

Welcome to the herd! A .22 rifle is an awesome starter gun. Easy to feed and it'll help you learn the basics. Then, it's on to bigger and louder things! As for your 2A stance and why you feel that way, I understand, sorta. I knew a man who's first clear memory was holding his mothers hand while walking through a minefield. His mother was carrying his infant brother on their way out of Romania. His father died as a political prisoner.

Heh. My reaction to buying my first gun (a CZ P-01) was much the same--the near overwhelming urge to run around the store waving it and yelling "I'VE GOT A GUN!" :)

'Course, it woulda been a real quick couple laps, ending with a barrage of gunfire from the amply-armed salesmen, but still...I coulda.

where and what

BTW, I'm moving to Fort Lauderdale. I'm about to take the offer, and move in 2 to 3 weeks. CCW application for FL is already in progress :D :D :D just need that DL to buy my first handgun :uhoh:

P.S. 1911 guy, i kid you not, one of my first memories is standing on a sidewalk with my grandma and watching a line of beautiful tanks marked with nice red stars roll by :(
