I've been looking at the Walther copy of an uzi rifle. It has a 16" barrel with a fake suppressor and a fold out stock. From what I have read its a pretty true replica of the real thing on the outside. This is chambered in 22lr so obviously internals are going to be very different than an open bolt smg. I have friends with the GSG MP5 replicas and they seem to enjoy them. Not the same manufacturer I realize, but I wanted something different.

Anyone have one??

why dont you just get the real deal israeli uzi in 9mm? parts kits are available, not all that expensive and the tools and parts needed to build a legal semi auto firearm on that kit is available

I shot a full auto Uzi in 45 earlier this week and thoroughly enjoyed it. That got me looking. Never considered a parts kit but from what I gathered when looking at AK kits years ago it seemed like more trouble than its worth.

I like the idea of it being in 22lr, I have plenty on hand and its cheaper than anything else centerfire even at today's prices.

hmm, you could probably find videos on youtube of building uzis from kits, some kits are harder than others, AKs arent the easiest

update: i just watched a whole video series on youtube of building the uzi from parts.. the only special tools needed was a welder, no riveting, no pressing, no headspacing, was much easier and cheaper to build from a kit than an AK.. price of the receiver flat and a 16" barrel would put the total cost for the entire kit build at about $400

I handled one. Well built, heavy like "the real thing". What I've got the hots for is the pistol version, though for what I have no idea.

ive been taking an interest in the uzi pistol as well.. a reliable, brutally simple straight blowback pistol thats actually somewhat small enough to be open carried as a duty sidearm if need be.. im actually curious if i could use a CZ 26 bolt to build essentially the same thing

I fired one of those.
The weight is nice, sights are terrible. That front post is plastic and has a very coarse thread with very little adjustment range. It doesn't sit securely in the housing and therefore you can't get a reasonable standing group.
I know it's not meant to be accurate, but for me if I can't hit a target the size of an apple at 25 yards with a .22 rifle, then that rifle is not for me.

I ordered it. With the rifle and extra mag it was like $310. With transfer it will be $320. Not too bad for a range toy.

I thought the original Uzi sights were terrible. But the range officer said it was one of the best targets he's ever seen.

That's a much deal than we can get here in London. Those were selling for over £600 with only one magazine last time I checked.

Though the original UZI sights were just your basic, heavy-duty post/peep sights, the UZI (talking about the carbine, not the pistol) was surprisingly accurate with them. With the stock folded out, it was a much more well ballanced, accurate, and instinctive/natural shooter than you'd have thought, when looking at it.

Had a chance to take this out today. Put about 350 rounds through it. Had a mix of Rem thunderbolts, Winchester western bulk and cci standard. It fed the CCI and Win fine but choked a few times on the thunderbolts. Stovepipes every occurrence.

Overall im pretty happy with it. Also seems more accurate than expected. Today was just shooting hanging cans and banging steel so not really measuring accuracy, but it seems pretty decent.
