I acquired a JC Higgins bolt action 16 ga and i know nothing about it. All I know is it was made by sears roebuck. i was just wondering about the value of it.

It was sold by Sears, not made by them. It's probably a Stevens. I had an old Stevens .410 bolt gun. Marlin made the goose guns and super goose 10 ga bolts, but I'm not sure if they ever made anything else with a bolt.

I had a JC Higgins .410 when I was a kid. It was a Mossberg sold by Sears under the JC Higgins brand label.

I can tell ya, it ain't worth a whole lot, no collector value or anything like that. The bolt shotgun's main appeal was as a cheap repeater.

I just found out that Sears won't pay you the 160 for the bolt. They'll give you a 50 dollar gift certificate.

If they'd release information on why the bolt fails it could probably be made safe but I'm not seeing anything.
