just bought one off of gunbroker for $325 shipped, seemed like a good deal, and I've heard quite a bit about them, i'll have it soon and post pictures and what not.
I've had good luck with the Wilson model 47D mags in my Springfield GI. However, 1911 Tuner, who knows more about 1911s than almost anyone on this forum, recommended to me Colt OEM mags made by Metalform and replacing the stock springs with those from Wolff. Neither the Wilsons nor the Colt/Metlform/Wolff are cheap options. but they aren't terribly expensive either. If you read 1911 Tuner's posts over in the Gunsmithing subforum you'll see that a good magazine is critical to proper function of the M1911 pistol. High quality mags are well worth the money.
My RIA is fine with anything I can fit in the mag well. I've genuine Colt, genuine GI, GI forgery, cheap ($5) "GI" mags from Sprotsmans Guide, Kimber, CMC "shooting star 8-rounders, Mec-Gar and Novack's 8 rounders. Never had the need to spend more than $10 for a 1911 mag (I've enough to load 500 rounds and head to the range).
