I really like double-action revolvers with service-length barrels.

Not sure why, it just seems more satisfying to pull the trigger as compared to an auto.

Had to go with "other" since there wasn't a category for blackpowder guns. Traditional only, no in-lines. History, making your own gear, very effective, inexpensive to shoot: what's not to like?

The .22lr rifles are a close second.

I voted rimfire pistols for me in particular (since that's what was asked in the question), but I believe the most-overall-addictive type is the rimfire rifle category..

Cant really say one or another, my mood determines what I go shoot and love that day, making buying guns even more tenuous, no I can find addiction in almost my gun I can afford.

In my opinion, 22s are the most addictive, especially higher end guns that are accurate (S&W K22, M17, Ruger Single Six, Standards, MK IIs, IIIs, 10/22, Browning Buckmarks, CZ 452, etc) at today's prices, you can shoot over 500 rounds for under $20! Everyone, regardless of age, size or strength can handle the recoil and learn to hit what they are shooting at, quickly. What other caliber guns can you do that with?

HOWEVER- my favorite to shoot are 1911 style pistols and either 1903 or 1903A3 rifles

Ruger 10/22 for rifles.

Any revolver in 22 LR. Single action 22's are really fun.

I own two 1911s, a Colt and a Kimber but I still crave a Smith E series 1911, as well as a couple more Kimbers. I do have a thing for snub nose revolvers, with a count of 5 of those and still want more, but I voted 1911 since I think they are more desirable (at the moment).
